Re: Hurricane Harvey Service Alert

Hello,

First, we hope that all in the path of Hurricane Harvey have hunkered down and are safe.

Just as a reminder, even if you do not live in the path of Hurricane Harvey, you may still experience a disruption of service. Our satellites need to send signals back and forth through a 'gateway' which are land based and sometimes affected by weather so you may experience intermittent connectivity until the rain passes. We are expecting the heaviest will only be for today at the gateway affected (Amarillo, TX).

If you are in the path of the hurricane:

  • Please call after the storms have passed should you need technical support.
  • If a technician is needed to repoint, replace or remount the dish, he may need to wait until flooding has receeded & debris in the road have been cleared, so there could be delays in scheduling.
  • Do NOT attempt to repoint or remount the dish on your own.
  • Should debris snag onto your dish, disconnect the power from your modem and carefully remove the debris. Please do this only when it is safe to go outside.
  • Even if you have your modem plugged into a surge protector, if you are sure your power will go out, consider unplugging the power cord for your HughesNet modem as a precaution.

If you live inside one of these circles then your signal might be affected. Gen4 customers in green and Gen5 in blue.
