Connection 2.17 mbps

Seriously? These speeds aren't even worth a dollar, 54000 posts in the tech section should tell you all you need to know about Hughes service. I should get a free month for this incompetency

Re: Connection 2.17 mbps

Hi nathangilbert,

A speed of 2.17Mbps is definitely low, especially if it's like that on a regular basis.  With that said, in order for the reps to help with speed issues they'll need some speed tests to be run.  The instructions for the speed tests are below.  And, being that the reps won't be back until Monday, the weekend will give you some time to get a few tests in.  Smiley Happy

Also, if you still have the HT1100 modem you can ignore the part about turning the WiFi off, but you should still run the tests using a single device that's connected directly to the HT1100 with a LAN cable.  In addition, if you still have Gen4, please make sure to use the manual 12MB test size for your download tests.

----------------------------

To help the HughesNet Customer Service Reps get a head start on your speed concerns you should create a testmy.net account and, while signed into that account, perform 3-5 tests during different parts of the day, then share the account results link with us here.

Most important points to remember during this test:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem with a LAN cable (NO third party Router or Wireless devices can be used)
-disable the WiFi while the speed tests are being performed
-use the 25MB size download test file if you have Gen5

-use the 12MB size download test file if you have Gen4
-If testing upload instead of download, you must use a 4MB size upload test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your testmy results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/yourusername

For a more in depth guide on running the tests, please visit: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx

The Reps are on M-F from approximately 8AM to 5PM Eastern. They will be the ones to address your speed issues, but they will need these tests to do so.

If you are unaware of how to disable the WiFi in the HT2000W, please see "How do I manage my built in WiFi modem?" in this PDF.  Make sure to click "Save Settings" after unchecking SSID Enable for each radio individually, as unchecking all four, then clicking "Save Settings", will not hold the settings.

Hi nathangilbert,

Just checking in to see if you've had a chance to run any speed tests?

Thank you,
