Data!

I lost all my data in 6 days. I streamed 2 movies! I am being told to watch my usage meter and it won't even load on the dashboard. I am tired of hanging on the phone and being made to feel like this is my fault. What do I need to do to get the meter to load. It works continuously and says please wait while retreiving your data.

keifer111,

Do you use the Hughesnet Status Meter?  If the one of the dashboard is giving you trouble, you can still use the Status Meter.  You can download it at...

You can also see your usage on the SCC, at....

http://192.168.0.1/

Have you tried a different browser with the Dashboard?

Also, are you streaming in SD or LD?  Streaming in HD can use around 3GB per hour, so if you watch two movies at two hours each in HD, that's 12GB.

I am trying to use the Hughesnet status meter on the dashboard. I will try to download from the link you provided. The movies were SD. After reading all the issues on the community, I don't believe that is the problem.

kieferr111,

After doing a little digging, I found this for Macs.  Just an idea....

It looks like something similar to Glasswire for Windows, which is very helpful for keeping an eye on data usage on the machine it's installed on.

This isn't a replacement for the status meter, but for watching data usage.

OS X  has the utility "Activity Monitor" which is a "Real time" program. The Hughenet status meter shows usage thru yesterday. Be VERY careful downloading any programs from the net, that is one way to "Infect" you Mac.

Good morning kieferr111,

Welcome and thanks for posting. Gabe is correct, you can also use the System Control Center to check the status of your data allowance.

We don't have information regarding what used your data, past or present, so you may want to look into using a third-party data monitoring program to help you pinpoint the programs on your PC that use the most data. Community members have suggested and used GlassWire, so feel free to ask them for tips on using it: https://www.glasswire.com

If you're a Mac user, I'll defer to the other Mac users here in the community. As far as I know, GlassWire for Mac is still in a beta stage.

Thanks,
Liz
