Extremely slow speeds at night

I was asked by Chris (Company Rep) to open a post with details after I replied to another thread with the same problem. I have been experiencing extremely slow speeds at night since around the first of November which was also my 1 year anniversary with HughesNet. I do not believe it is a hardware problem because I get fast to acceptable speeds at other times. You will see from my data below that the speed drops to an extremely low level at times. I captured this data using Speedtest. I don't have much data for the month of November because I assumed that it was related to additional activity during the election cycle. Here are my results:

Liz, this is a normal nighttime speed test on my iPad. I just did this one tonight.

Need to run Testmy.net speed tests. It is the only third party test they accept. They have established a baseline with it and know what the results should be. Too many variables with other tests when it comes to satellite.

Run 12 MB manual download tests.

Open and account and post stats like this: http://testmy.net/quickstats/sgoshe

Bird dog. I did all of that approximately 2 months ago and there was minimal change from the other results. I will gladly jump through all of the hoops again but I was just giving general information about my situation. No disrespect because I am sure you know much more about internet connectivity than I, although I have worked in operations for a mid-sized regional bank with offices over 200 miles away connected by the web for almost 15 years, but what I do know is my speeds are 20+ Mbps in the morning and less than 0.75 Mbps at night with no outside variables since I am using the same modem, same router, same dish, same iPad and same program to record speed. As you can see below I have run my 3rd party tests also. So next time take time to read the previous posts and see what was done before you comment.
Chris,
Here are three tests from tonight. As you can see the data is very much like I got from Speedtest.

Hi richknox,

Do you have your testmy.net URL we can reference as you do speed tests?, it would be beneficial if we can get new tests, as there have been network adjustments since December.

How to set up your account at testmy.net: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx

Most important points:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem
-use the 12MB test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/[yourusername]

Your cooperation, patience, and understanding are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Liz

Liz,
How many tests do you want and do you want them at different times of the day? I just want to make sure you get what you want since I did this before. I can only do them early in the morning or at night since I work each day and no one is at home during the day generally. Thanks for the information.

Hi Rich,

It would be best to run the tests during the time you usually experience slow speeds, so if you're always slow after 8pm, run at least 3 tests after 8pm.

Most important points:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem
-use the 12MB test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/[yourusername]

Thanks,
Liz

Liz,

here are results from mysppedtest.  I hope that this how you want the URL:

http://testmy.net/db/kEqHaKxp2%20%20http://testmy.net/kEqHaKxp2.png

If this is not correct I will try again. There were 3tests run tonight and they are representative of normal nighttime speeds.

This is the URL they need.  It looks like you are doing your tests correctly.  This should give them great info.

Would help a lot if following instructions here and post link to all tests. Step 9 is the key. Also do manual 12 MB for download and the most 2 MB for upload.

Look dude, I followed the instructions as best I could. My internet page does not show or at least I didn't see a way to share all my results.

Try this - it shows up better on my iPad:

That's the link needed.  You may not have seen it, but I posted it for you in a reply above.

Cool, I'm a dude! I'm done, will let Gabe help you. I know "Champion" is a stigma in many cases and turns people off. He is very good and knowledgeable. Sorry I interfered.

Thanks for the help, Gabe. That speed test site is not in my favorites. I just did not see the link on my laptop.

Good morning Rich,

Perfect, thank you for the URL and speed tests, these will do. I'll just run some new diagnostics to double-check your equipment then I'll escalate your case up to our engineers. Once I have any updates to share, I will post back.

Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Liz

Good morning richknox,

Thank you for letting me know. I've actually not heard back from engineering about your case, which is surprising. I'm sorry for this, I've pinged the engineer on the status of your case. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

Liz,
I appreciate the help but something needs fixing and this is very frustrating. My speed during the evening hours last night, actually 7:54 PM was 0.27 Mbps download and 1.14 Mbps upload. Then at 1:46 AM this morning it was 24.59 Mbps download and 5.53 Mbps upload. Now before anyone mKes a comment, yes, this was done on my iPad through the Wi-Fi, but I still contend that this just shows there is nothing wrong with the router and modem. The internet was so bad last night I could only do very basic things. I could not even load secondary pages in Facebook. I am now going on 4 months with this problem and either Hughes needs to own up that there is a problem and provide a solution or let folks just quietly go away. I do appreciate the company giving me the 3 months credit, that was a nice gesture but what I really want is decent internet service. It was wonderful during the first year of my contract but then around November 1, 2016 it just collapsed and I began having these speed problems. Something changed and I just want it changed back. I didn't have 20+ Mbps speed at night during the first year but I did have 6+ Mbps speeds and that was adequate for what we did. Thank you for your help.
