Gen4 Performing Well

I have been with Hughes since January 2007 and upgraded from my old HN7000 to the new Gen4 system in January 2013. I am glad I did so as the Gen4 has for the most part performed well and is much faster and more reliable than my old HN7000.

So far, I have had only one problem with significantly lower download speeds which lasted just a few days. I contacted Hughes customer service and the rep was courteous and tried to fix the issue. However, I posted the problem on this forum and either Suz or Sara promptly responded and the issue was corrected by the next day. Thank you!

There are several other folks in my area who have Gen4 and all are pleased with the performance of the system. So Gen4 is working well for us at this time.

I am on the mid-level plan and my download speeds are usually around 9 or 10 mbps during non-peak hours and often stay above 7 mbps during peak times. So far I have been able to watch videos at any time without buffering.

I mainly use the Internet for browsing, email and occasionally watching videos. I don't download movies, play games or stream video. So the download allowance is MORE than adequate for me and I often have 80% or more of my data left when it is time to start over.

I have been pleased with Gen4 and it is working just fine for me at this time. Of course things can change. And I realize that there will be times when the system may slow down. In my area the only Internet option other than dial-up is satellite so I am glad that Hughes provides this service. I wanted to share my positive Gen4 experience over the last eight months.
