It takes several tries before the WPS button works. Could it be a faulty button?
The password is huge. A reliable WPS button is needed.
TIA!

Is anyone else having this problem????

It may be a while before you get a reply with this particular issue as most people don't use WPS to connect their devices.

Nope. I had to use the WPS button once and it worked just fine.
Hi lakewoman,
This is something we have not heard before, so thanks for bringing it up. When you push on the WPS button, do you feel it depress or click? After pressing it, how long do you wait until trying again? I'll reach out to our engineers to see if they have any information that can help.
Thanks,
Amanda
There is no click. It is very hard to push it in. I push it and let go and wait to see the WPS light start flickering. If it doesn't, then I push it again. I then try to hold it for a few seconds. I just keep trying until it finally works.
I use it for my TVs. I always disconnect the connection when I am done. The only thing that I let automatically connect is my Surface Pro 3.
I think that it is a faulty button.
I have not tried using the WPS button to connect any devices (I been using my own Router) I was never a fan of WPS so never used it in the past either. Right after my installation I did attempt to press the WPS button (I seen others post that theirs didn't do anything) when I press it I can feel it clicking
I just attempted to connect my wireless printer using the WPS ... I had to firmly press and hold the button for about 2 seconds for my printer to connect. That after going into setting on my printer and going to WPS option to connect to the network.

Not a fan of WPS either, makes people lazy, same as unversal plug and play. I've never used it to set up my network. Good info though just the same.
"Not a fan of WPS either, makes people lazy, same as unversal plug and play."
I had to use it to connect a wifi extender. There was no other way.

I should rephrase it. What I was trying to saying is it allows people to not learn how to manually setup their home network which IMO everyone should know how to do. Obviously not the case for you.

Plug and play has become more and more common. I thought it was weird that there was no other way to install the wifi extender except with the WPS button. On the other hand, it gave me a chance to see what the thing did...I had never used WPS before. 🙂
I agree with you that people should make an effort to learn how to manyally set up their home network. It would certainly make things easier in the long run, even if it might be a big learning curve for some...
Excuse me, but I do know how to set up a home network and have done so several times. What's it to you if I want to be lazy and use the WPS button?
WPS suffers several long standing vulnerabilities.
Here is a straight forward article that outlines the WPS issue:

I had read both of those the other day, plus another one, when I first replied. I didn't really know enough about the implications, nor if they applied to all instances of someone using WPS, so I decided not to reference them. I'm glad you did.
I never could get the WPS button to work for me either. I tried to connect my wireless printer and my cell phone. I could not get either of them to work. The printer is close to the modem so I just hardwired it. The phone I entered the password manually. So I have to agree there may be a issue with the WPS button.
Hughes users likely have a smaller attack surface due to not having a public facing IP.
When it comes to networking ... possession is everything ... and that includes access to the routers wired LAN ports and physical access to the WPS button.
I still put the WPS function along with Guest Access and few other items on my 'disable list' when setting up a router.
I disabled the guest access for both radios right off the bat, but not WPS. I wasn't even familiar with WPS until getting this modem. My netgear router had it, but I never really paid attention to what it was. With that said, with what's being discussed, I just disabled it.

I could never see the value in having a complex secure pass-key for wireless access and then invent and implement a simplified work-around to it.
Nevertheless, I still want my WPS button to work, problem free. That is the main and only problem stated in this thread.
While I do appreciate the responses, they do not respond to the original post.
Hi lake_woman
Just an update, we're referring this to our hardware team to investigate. I have a couple of HT2000Ws here I can play around with too. I will provide an update as soon as I receive one.
Thank you
Amanda
