Has anyone ever been happy with HughesNet?

It is amazing how bad the service is with this company. There is no way I could get away with such poor experiences in my industry. MY INTERNET HAS NEVER MET EXPECTATIONS...I have promise after promise for engineers to contact me...once they did...came out and repositioned my satellite and now I'm even slower...dial up is faster than I get....what do I have to do to get quality internet? service?

No, nobody has ever been happy, including me who has been with them for 14 years. (sarcasm)

Seems you've been elevated when it comes to support already. Hopefully @Liz or @Amanda can help.

Kinda doubt dialup is faster. Sarcasm again.

Absolutely.  For just over 13 years, now.   Granted, the speeds are lower at times than I would like as of late, but the alternatives are dialup, spotty cell service, and nothing, and for what I do the speeds are just fine.  In addition, I personally know of two other people who have HughesNet and like it very much.

Yes I'm happy with HN.

 This post is JMHO!

If the internet was used as it was intended the speeds might inprove.

TV was made to wacth movies.

Internet was intended for information.

Streaming movies over the internet will slow the system, by using more data.

Yes, and phone lines were meant for voice and cable was meant for TV....but both are being used for data now, too. Nevermind that Hughes promised many prospective customers that their service was perfectly suitable for streaming on *multiple devices.* At peak hours I can't even download emails...which I could probably accomplish with a couple of tin cans and a string. I hardly ever stream video, but for customers that want that functionality it's not unreasonable to expect it from their ISP, since it's the future of television.

I was happy with Gen5 service from when I signed up to when the September Slowdown negatively affected my ability to work from home.

Yes I am happy. I have been a customer since 2002 I believe it is. It is HN or dialup out here.

Happy customer for over 12 years.

Dialup speed is at best between 40 and 50 kbit/s.  Is your connection slower?  Prove it: post a screenshot of a speed test from testmy.net.

Re: Has anyone ever been happy with HughesNet?

Yes!  I've absolutely been happy with HN service.  I've been with them for probably 14-15 years.  I'd say maybe 1/2 that time I've been happy with the service.  Now the cost for what you get?  NO!  And when problems do arise, it's like fighting a losing battle to get anything done (most of the time).  There have been exceptions, Liz, the moderator of this forum has done wonders for some of my issuses.  There have been times I've had to go outside the company for help.  No one likes to have to do that but it gets results.  Right now...NOT happy!  And haven't been since around Sept.  Gen 5, from April till Sept, was awesome!  Drawing people in with promises of the fastest satellite speeds EVER was just for a few months till they way oversold the merchandise (satellite).  Here is a copy of the letter I recieved yesterday.  A followup phone call to this email came today.  So maybe there is hope.

This is an update to your Customer Care escalation. Hughes engineers are actively setting up processes to open new capacity in several Gen5 regions. This expansion will optimize performance across the entire network. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you updated. As a courtesy we are providing a 3 month credit to your HughesNet account in the amount of $20.00 each month.

We appreciate your continued patience as we work to improve your HughesNet experience.

Sincerely,

Re: Has anyone ever been happy with HughesNet?

Hi NotHappy,

HughesNet now has over 1 million customers across our Jupiter system. I would like to think that the majority of our customers are happy, otherwise I am not sure Liz and myself could handle responding to hundreds of thousands of people.

Aside from that, I do understand you must feel very frustrated but we're making a stronger effort to communicate updates and resolutions with customers, like yourself, who have an open case. If you have not already, please check your e-mail address you have on file with us for any updates. Please let me know if you have not received one.

Thank you

Amanda
