How do I set my proxy and what should be there?

www.ssa.gov unexpectedly closed the connection. The message said to do this: Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN". But I don't know what to do. Please help!

Hi Sunshine,

Are you using Chrome as your browser? All you need to do is follow the directions you just posted. The chrome menu is at the top right. The icon looks like this ---> Chrome menu

There should then be a drop down list, closer to the bottom of this list is settings. Click that. You should now see this on the page

Click on show advanced settings depicted in picture above

Next you'll want to scroll down a bit to the "Network" section. And click change proxy settings(picture below)

Once that is done a window should pop up that looks like this(picture below:

Click LAN settings

Another window should pop up

Make sure the check box that says Automatically detect settings is checked and that the proxy server check box is blank.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you,
Chris
