GW,
right now go to the SCC advanced pages, and do the following, in order:

#1: disable Web Acceleration, then

#2: immediately re-enable, then

#3: do a MBX Reset

That should force your modem to increment to the next Web Acceleration Server on its list.

We have the same here, Germantown MD...and we're east of Dallas TX...

Our connection the last couple of months has slowed down, sometimes to the point that we can not get online at all...but in the middle of the night, you can...what good is that when you're sleeping??

Subsequent tests at 7 PM and 9 PM return 85 and 91 kbps.

If history repeats, it will be back above 7500 in the morning and then hit the skids in the afternoon.

That pattern suggests an overloaded gateway.

Does the Hughes network not have the ability to re-route traffic around roadblocks like this?

Your gateway is where your signal returns to earth.
While it is claimed that Hughes is investing in new equipment and expanding capacity it seems like, at least in certain locals, they have oversold the system.

Has to go through their owned gateways so no, reroute is not really an option. Each beam is locked to a certain gateway.
