Hughesnet modem using my data when nothing is even connected

I have disconnected my wireless router and had my computer off and the modem is still flashing the top 3 lights which means it is using data. I am so frustrated with this! It got a bit better when I shut it off for 12 hours but how often should I have to do that? I am not pleased at all they add on little token but if you use the token by the next month it don't carry over what is left. I am so frustrated! Looking for another provider if things don't change. They also need their old plans back it had more data and for half the anytime date now I am paying over $100 a month and can't even watch youtube video's much less connect even my phone to my home internet or I will exceed my data. Seems as long as I only check my email and don't do much else I am ok. This sucks!

Hi Keithstregesr,

I'm sorry if this has confused you, however as stated, we are at the corporate level. If you would like to provide us with the case numbers or dates of these calls we can review them. Any incorrect information relayed to you will be an opportunity for us to coach our agents. It could even simply be a mistake. Either way, I would like to help you. We value you as a customer and at this point the best way for me to fix whatever may be going on, is to work through what we can right now. So please, when you find the time, look over our instructions for screenshots, and follow the graphic I previously posted. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
Chris

So you know I am not going to reply on this anymore I am sick of people that don't represent hughesnet getting nasty and telling everyone what to do. People aren't allowed to bully anywhere these days as it isn't tolerated but it seems to be allowed on here so I am done commenting from this point forward. I have had enough it has happened on this post and many others I dont' need this abuse.

I just read this post. Where do you feel you were bullied?

keithstregesr,

If being told how to perform an action is being bullied... And being told by a Corporate Service Rep to do what was explained earlier by another member is bullying you...

Hi Keithstregesr,

I'm sorry if you felt bullied. That was not the intention of our responses. However I respect your decision. We'll go ahead and close this thread. If you do need something in the future, feel free to create a new post. You can even mark it as private, so that only official reps can see and respond to your inquiries.

Thank you,
Chris

Ticket #112939798

I have the same issue since going to GEN5 in April. On 6-4-18 I disabled all wifi functionality on this modem. BTW this is the third modem model HT2000W and installed about 7-10 days prior to this day. Each modem had a data consumption test run with wifi diabled and nothing plugged into ethernet ports and each time modem is consuming data.

The ticket number above was generated by the TECH sent out on Wed 6-6-18. He was here in person, verified the modem was set up properly was not connected to anything but power and satellite. On route he did the ovm test which indicated that my modem was working properly, no packet loss but noted it rebooted 50 times during his watch. He called tech support and they added 1 GB data to my account. Then watched it for 10 minutes as it consumed 300MB. I am frustrated to say the least. I would like a way to prevent my data from being eaten up by unknown source and after a month of trying to work with Hughesnet regarding same I have zero resolution. I understand my ticket above was escalalated to engenering for same but no fix yet. I feel I have been a victim of hackers at this point in time and would hope Hughesnet would delve deeper to finding a resolution for this problem since it is a service they provide at a cost to me.

Hi Lynee,

I've addressed your concern in your separate thread, so I will close out this old one.
