I have been having problems with wifi use

I have been having problems with wifi use on a Samsung Galaxy 5 and an iPhone 5SE. We seem to have a lot of issues watching video clips on Facebook. They stop after a few seconds then start 1-2 seconds later. I have plenty of data right now and we upgraded to another data plan about a month ago to see if it would fix the issues, but it didn't. Any thoughts on what to do to fix this issue? This is my test speed this morning from my computer. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/53... --download of 24.6 & 0.86 upload. Not sure if that is good or not. I ran the test on my phone and got these results: download 19.08 with upload of 2.61 (I ran this test about 20 minutes after the first one). Any thoughts on how to make the wifi more effective on the phones? When we switch to the network, we don't have the same streaming issues.

Will say something seems to have changed since the recent gateway problems. Haven't seen peak time speeds this low for quite some time.

I've noticed significant nighttime slowdown.

BirdDog,

My peak speeds are often this low, but I'd rather just deal with it than have them try to do something to fix it and end up having it affect my fantastic off peak speeds.  LOL.  But, even with my peak speeds being this low, I don't really see any negative effects when browsing, only when I have to download something, so it doesn't really bother me.

On the flipside, I have seen my off peak speeds increase a tad since the gateway problem.  Odd.  LOL.

I just had to plug my laptop directly into the modem, because of my wifi routers would not connect to the internet. I have a Linksys and a Windstream and haven't had any issues with connections on either of them until a few hours ago. I have no clue what the problem is.. any ideas?

Don't know if at all related but Netflix has a notice up about having problems with some Samsung devices:

Hi garyandkimsunderland,

What we'll need to get this escalated to our engineers is a few more tests. Please take some time over the weekend to run more tests and post them here. Always use 12 MB as the test size and directly connect. A few in batches throughout the day. Once we have the results, and if they are continuing to be low, I'll send them up so our team can work directly on your site. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we help address your concerns.

Thank you,
Chris

Hi garyandkimsunderland,

Hope you had a great weekend. Just wanted to follow up and see if you were able to run the tests I suggested?

Chris, I was out of town and couldn't run the tests.  I will do so over the coming weekend.

I can't confirm if this was done at 12mb. I couldn't adjust this with the speed test program I used.

You have to use the manual 12 MB download test at Testmy.net. It is the only third party test they accept.

garyandkimsunderland,

It's great that you did speed tests, but you need to do them on the correct site.  The only site that Hughesnet accepts as being accurate, besides their own, is testmy.net.  It's because of the test protocols that testmy.net uses, which are amenable to satellite internet.  You need to sign up for an account at testmy.net, do the tests under that account, and use the manual 12MB tests.  After some tests are done you can post the results with the URL from your results page.

Hi garyandkimsunderland,

As mentioned by BirdDog and GabeU, our engineers will only except tests run through our own system at http://my.hughesnet.com or www.testmy.net. Many other speed test websites are not correctly configured to test a Satellite connection. I'm sorry for the inconvenience however this needs to be redone in order to effectively make a real case for you when escalating. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you,
Chris

Make sure to do the tests on the correct site this time, using the correct test size.  Create an account, do the tests under that account using the manual 12MB test size.

To add, it's hard to get answers, just as it's hard to help, when the tests requested and needed haven't been done yet.

What is wrong that you can't use the Testmy.net test as has been mentioned several times?

Must connect a single computer directly to the modem, no router.

Hi garyandkimsunderland,

If you are having problems running our Hughesnet speed test then please use www.testmy.net and follow the instructions I described.

Thank you,

Please see this link for my test.

Close, but what is needed is the URL of your particular results.  A computer ID page will give others, as well, which we don't want mixed in there.  It will be in the form of this....

When signed in, click on the "Results" tab, then copy and paste the URL.
