What seems to be the problem...
Have you tried moving your device(s) closer to the HughesNet modem? The range of 5Ghz WiFi is considerably less than that of 2.4Ghz WiFi.
Also, the HughesNet mobile app has a built in WiFi range tester. This may help to determine if range is the issue. You can get the HughesNet mobile app from Google Play or the App Store.
