do you see a box that says abort pointing? if so click on it and see if it registers, if not then unplug the modem for about 5 seconds then plug it back in and as soon as it lets you open your browser and enter 192.168.0.1 and it should be on the pointing screen again then click on abort pointing and it should complete registration but it will take up to 20 minutes but usually less, let me know if that works
