The Internet is working. I disconnected phone line for several hours. Then reconnected. Still no dial tone. When I call the phone the phone rings but no tone. On the other end the message is someone's on the phone. Any suggestions?

Assuming that you normally use a cordless phone, do you have a corded one that you could try?
