Plex Remote Access

I am trying to enable remote access for my plex server so I can control my server with voice commands from Alexa. Nothing I've tried has worked and it's looking like I need to open the port to allow access but I'm reading Hughesnet doesn't allow that.

 

Does anyone have remote access for Plex working, if so how, or is this just something I'll have to give up on because of Hughesnet?

You're essentially behind a double-NATted firewall. Doing a direct connect to your public IP won't work with anything because no one can really see you outside the HN network.

 

Edit: Plex will only work within your own local network.

If you have some networking experience, you can probably get this to work with IPv6. Search this forum for the details of how to get external IPv6 access working to LAN devices with the buggy HT2000w.
