Poor performance

My internet speeds are getting worse than dial-up even on clear days. I can't get pages to load and it burns through my allotment tryng to reload. It is getting tiresome and the issue with my phone has never been fixed.

Case in point, I had to load this page 3 times just to post this question.

we've been on hughesnet for 10or so years.   we can't even watch youtube vids because they gobble up all our data.   the only thing it's really good for is basic emails.   we're sort of captive as there is no alternative.   the nanosecond we have a viable alternative we'll be GONE!

I have been investigating alternative methods. I may try to see if I can get out of this contract since they never got the phone right and it's almost like not having internet. Even my email is having issues. Takes forever to load and then it is downhill from there.

Thanks for posting, we'd like to help address your speed concerns but need some more details and data to work with. It would be very helpful if you could run speed tests for us and post them here.

To elaborate on the speed tests to continue troubleshooting, please follow the steps here to set up a testmy.net account and run speed tests so that we get a proper evaluation of your system performance:

Most important points:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem
-use the 12MB test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/[yourusername]

I am using the Hughes Net link. I hope this sends the test results to you. How often do I need to do this? The test I am doing now is around 1:25 am. If it shows please note older test times on the link.

Now, how do I test my phone? That problem has never been rectified and  I get tired of talking over people.

I did run a test after 8:00 am and it improved so I am now wondering if I am being throttled during bonus hours.

pattymotley, if you run upload tests, you only need to use the 2MB size for that.  I see one in there with the 12MB size.  You don't really need to run the upload tests, but I just figured I'd let you know in case you ran one again.
