SLOW SPEEDS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so very frustrated with HughesNet. Two months of SLOW speeds, tech comes out points me to a different position. Now here we go, Slow speeds and I can't even hardly get my emails, and web pages taking forever to load! When does this STOP??? Here is my ESN:10142872. Can you PLEASE FIX THIS! And before you ask me, there's nothing wrong with my equipment and everything has been trouble shooted more than 20 times in 2 months. Even when the tech was here. Again here is my ESN:10142872. I look forward to an EMAIL with how you will be resolving this issue. Been ongoing for 2 years.

Thomas, I hear you!  Fiber is coming our way and same for me. This is absolutely crazy!

So I was directly connected to my router/modem HT1100 and on the phone with your tech support and we ran test and then they sent someone out.
Not "my" tech support. I don't work for HughesNet.

Only posters with "Official Rep" after their names are HughesNet employees.

...Speeds are advertised as UPTO 15Mbps at absolute maximum, they are NOT advertised as 15-20Mbps like you expect based on a previous post.  You have an average of 7Mbps during peak hours, which, IMO, is perfectly acceptable.

Agreed.

Repeating myself but expect to get a general average of between 40% to 80% of what any ISP, including HughesNet, tells you is their maximum "Up To" speed.

That's a decent speed, and that's from a test done during off peak times, which will almost always be considerably faster than peak times.  I will post my test my link so you can see what my tests are like during peak and off peak.  My peak time tests are often slower than yours, as you can see.  Again, you should set up a testmy.net account, and, if possible, do some tests at times other than peak times, along with the peak time tests.

Hi Robert,
My speeds dropped off like yours yesterday but rebooting the terminal put it back up so I don't think it has to do with HN's recent upgrades.

The speed issue aside, you can't blame Hughesnet for YOU going over your monthly allotment.

You did what? If you mean testing at off peak times, you only posted one result below.

When I signed up for Gen 4 in Feb, that's what I was pretty much expecting to get...maybe 5 or 6MB.  When I got the speeds that I got, I was shocked, and considered myself EXTREMELY lucky.  Even still, if I had only gotten 5 or 6MB, I would have been satisfied.

I'm sorry I thought you worked for Hughes!  This is the same stuff they keep telling me and of course I'm very angry with them. I apologize. 🙂

I set up a testmy.net account.  I still get very close to what I get when doing the speed test on Hughes.  I only posted the one as it was the only one I could get. This past Saturday morning around 5 am during the free time I check and got 17963. At 8:30 am 3 hours later speed dropped to 5012 and by 9 am 1340. These are "not" normal speeds. I check different hours of the day.

Amanda, can  you please have engineering look into this?  Also, Roger at Corporate has been my rep for the last two months trying to help get this fixed. He and Daniel and Eddie at Corporate advised a couple of months ago there was a problem verfied by the engineers. It should be noted on my account. Robert

Setting up the testmy.net account isn't to get different results. It's to be able to have a record of test results that are easily accessible by those who can help.  Also, 8:30am and 9:am are right in the middle of a peak period, and 5am is not.  I would bet that within an hour or so those speeds would be right back up to higher speeds.  Generally speaking, I've found that the peak periods are from around 6am to 9:30am or so, and 5pm to about 10:30pm or so.

Now, with the testmy.net account set up, it will keep a record of all of the tests you do with them and they will be much more accessible by anyone that can help.  I would do my tests at the testmy.net sight now, though you can still do them at Hughesnet if you want to (though there is no reason to do both).  Hughesnet accepts tests from testmy.net, and is the only other site besides their own that they recommend for the speed tests.  Also, always do your download tests using the 12MB size at testmy.net.

Try to do some tests at varying parts of the day for a few days and then take a look at what you have.  I know you can't do them while you work, and no one would expect you to.

Did you look at my tests and notice the slowdown during peak periods?  I go from 20MB down to 1.5MB during peak hours sometimes.

Robert, just take notice that she wants you to do the tests at the testmy.net site.  Make sure you are signed in when you do them, and use the 12MB tests like she said.

Hi Robert

Do you have a link to your testmy.net account? It is very important we get those results if this case has to go to engineering. Be sure the tests run are the Manual 12MB test.

Thanks

Amanda, yes I do. I will run again tonight when I get home but UNDERSTAND this uses up my data so I want my data replaced!

Hi Robert

I sure am aware of this. I'll be sure we compensate you with tokens after you've completed the troubleshooting.

Thanks

Robert, could you post your results URL from testmy.net rather than all of that above.  If signed in, click on "Results" and the URL will look something like this...

http://testmy.net/quickstats/Gabe1972

Posting the URL will make it much easier to read your speeds instead of trying to decipher what is above.

Or, you can take a shot of the screen with the results and post the picture.

Or, you could just give the name after the forward slant after quickstats in the URL and we can get to it that way.

Any of the three would be fine, but the URL is preferred.

Yea, that is a bit of a mess to read plus when clicking on the links they are over a month old: http://testmy.net/db/9Evnp7GwI&framed=1&framed2=1

For sure.  From what is there I am gathering that michaelp is the name, but it's a bit hard to tell, as when you click on some parts, it shows a table and michaelp is listed on only one of the few dozen tests.

Robert, is michaelp you on testmy.net, as in http://testmy.net/quickstats/michaelp
