Re: Slow Gen5 download speed

Good morning CarolFox58,

Thanks for the update, glad to see the site visit went well. Thank you also for this latest speed test. Our diagnostics are showing everything working normally and speeds exceeding your plan's.

Speed test results for SAN - DSS6

Execution time: 2018-10-15 13:59:05
Upload speed (kb/sec): 3137.101
Download speed (kb/sec): 33554.432
Round trip ping time (msec): 546
Packet loss rate (%): 0

Next time you need to run a speed test, please run a batch of three spaced 5 minutes apart so we can get an average speed from that time period.  Your cooperation, patience, and understanding are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Liz

Re: Slow Gen5 download speed

I don't understand how 9Mbps is a good speed. I used to be in the 40's. 9 is normal for Gen5 service?

Re: Slow Gen5 download speed

No, this is why I'd like to get an average of your current speeds so that I can have the data ready for our corporate engineers if need be.

Thanks,
Liz

Re: Slow Gen5 download speed

These tests use a lot of my data. While I understand you need them, how can I keep in my limits with all these test? I can barely get any use of my data anyway, now I'm just wasting it. I thought for sure I read above that you stated my test are exceeding my plan.I will do another set of three spaced 5 minutes apart and give you the results. But I can't waste anymore data . I appreciate your help.

Re: Slow Gen5 download speed

That's understandable, I see a previous agent has already provided you tokens for the previous tests you ran. I've just sent you an additional free token for another batch of tests. If you're seeing that error 520 message, try again later as something on that website is erroring out. We're not affiliated with testmy.net so I can't tell you what/why exactly that 502 error is popping up.

After the tech left your site, you initially stated that performance was better. What were you attempting to do online that changed your opinion and prompted you to run more speed tests?

Thanks,
Liz

@Liz

Rightly so. That's apparently a code error at CloudFlare, which serves as TestMy's Content Delivery Network.

I've had a few connection issues with testmy.net over the last week or so, though the last few days have been okay.  It would work, then it would freeze during a test.  I would close the page and try to go back to the site and it would give me an error.  It would keep doing so for ten minutes or so, then I could get back on.  I had this happen four or five times.

CloudFlare is having it's issues. I'm seeing other weird things on my site as well as the one I administer, both of which are also behind their CDN. Well, that AND a recent Jetpack update likely causing posts not to schedule properly on Wordpress. #NotHavingFun
