Slow.......................................speed

I am receiving slow speeds for the past 120 days, HugesNet's speed test shows results of .21 Mbps several times.  I have rebooted modems, routers with no increases in speeds.  This is worse than 56k dial up modems I used in the past.  Certainly not what we are paying for. I have results from speed testing sites that HughesNet referred me to previously.  It was showing less than 1 Mbps speeds several times tonight.

jonesfamily98092,

Below is a copy/paste of instructions on what the reps will need with regard to speed tests.  The speed tests at testmy.net should be done while signed in (this makes them easier to look at later), while connected directly to the modem with a LAN cable (no router), and the download tests must be done with the manual 12MB test size.

Create an account at testmy.net if you haven't already.  While signed into that account, and using a single device connected directly to the modem with a LAN cable,  NO ROUTER perform a batch of five download tests using the manual 12MB test size Space each test at least five minutes apart.  If possible, run a batch of tests a few times a day, preferably in the morning, afternoon and evening.  If you can't do a batch during those times, that's okay.  The important thing is to try to get some tests from different times to be able to tell when the slowdowns are happening and when they are not.  This info helps them in determining what the problem could be.

After you've run some tests, post your Results page URL so the tests can be looked at.   While signed in at testmy.net click on "Results". Then, while on your Results page, copy the URL and paste it into a post on here. It will look like the link below, but with your testmy account user name where it says yourusername.

Hi jonesfamily98092,

Welcome to the HughesNet community! Looks like GabeU has beat me to the punch (again) on providing our recommended instructions for running speed tests. We appreciate you doing these tests for us as it helps us better understand the problem and a good starting point to getting to a resolution. Looking forward to your response.

Thank you,
Amanda

Launching does not mean it is operational the same day. Sorry you did not understand there is a lot of testing to go on after it is positioned in its final orbit powered up. It is not like flipping a switch for a light.

You'd have something else to be very angry about if you switched over to a satellite that wasn't thoroughly tested and was having issues.

Won't be 6-8 months more like about 4 most likely. I don't remember anyone here saying service through the satellite would be available the same day or even month it was launched.

Aimless and totally confused? You seem a bit confused how satellites work.

Not that it could or would possibly make any difference to you quasi-elitists, but here is a minor example of the notifications I have grown accustomed to as a HughesNet customer.......! Now, I am admonished not to contact tech support but instead, stay at this location. Minor problem; no one employed by HN is here after 5 PM. So, I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t. But never fear, there will be a cadre of “experts” anxious to jump all over me for doing ANYTHING!

With that said, on my personal recommendation, you need not call the 866 number for the same issue y...

I do not believe we have a case open for this error you are receiving, so this is a different issue. If  you like, you can respond to the thread where you and I are discussing your other concern about our tech support group with more information about what steps you took to get this error.

Thank you
Amanda
