Re: Status Meter going Crazy, Showing Letters instead of Numbers

Hughesnet is and always will be a "connection of last resort".
It is not, nor ever will be a mainstream connection.

If you ever have another option, take it.

If you have no other options, then you need to learn how the system works, its strong points, its weak points.

There are a number of long term users here on the forum, myself, Charles M, Sgoshe, Charles S and Alan to name just a few of the "Regulars" that post ... often in an effort to shorten the learning curve for people like yourself, and often get insulted like youdid to Charles S. in another post.
Is it reallyso hard people such as yourself to understand that some of us actualy enjoy helping our fellow users by sharing our knowledge and experience with those users that haven't our skill set or experience ?

I know myself, I have posted vary detailed and illistrated answers to many of your issues in the past.

Do you understand economics? .... supply and demand ?

The answer to your basic question in your latest whine/rant is:

Capacity ... some beam /gateway facilitys have more capacity than others.
I know you will have an issue grasping this in its "fullness" so I suggest a quick course in Business Economics zeroing in on the laws os Supply & Demand ....
To witt: prices fall where excess capacity exists.

Seems to me many folks here are lobbying for a more socialist country. They definitely don't understand Capitalism, the free market, supply and demand, corporate autonomy, etc.

I hate getting political here as many already know but dang people.......corporations run this country. That is what we have voted for. Vote different if you want something different.

I felt like a rant. Bet Gary will jump on this one.  Smiley Happy

Why don't you check your condescension at the door.

Laypeople shouldn't HAVE to be the ones shouldering the burden of explaining problems with a system that people pay a ton of money for because the customer service reps are impossible to understand/get a hold of/have no tech experience. Nor should paying customers have to rely on people who we don't know are qualified to actually give advice.

Helping customers is the job of the customer service people and the techs. But since Hughesnet can't hire people who know how to do anything but read of a script, people are forced to resort to alternative means to fix a broken system. That's HORRIBLE business and horrible customer service.

There is hardly any way to get your problems solved with this system unless you happen to find this board. You should be enraged that hughesnet relies on people like you (if you are indeed not a paid schill) for FREE LABOR while you pay into a broken system. If you want to waste your life doing that, feel free. But considering how much Hughesnet lies to their customers, I find the "helpers" highly suspect. I am fully entitled to that opinion and those suspicions. And I fully entitled to think that if you aren't paid by hughesnet you either SHOULD be compensated for your time or y'all should maybe get another hobby, since you're providing free labor to a company who won't improve their customer service so that it actually solves issues. That's not really going to get them to employ better techs if you do all their work for them for free.

Hughesnet repeatedly lies to their customers in order to get them to sign up. They mis-represent their product. I object to that. Maybe you're fine with it, but it's not okay for me. It's cost me an enormous amount of money, time and stress because my job relies on reliable internet.

I don't need to defend my knowledge, my business or my intelligence to someone like you, who is clearly a condescending jerk who has a problem with women who express their opinions.

Don't reply to my posts unless you're an official rep who can tell me how I can cancel this godawful service.

Well, bottom line is they are still in business and most likely will be for quite awhile. I didn't even know you were a woman until you said something about it then looked at your screen name a bit closer.

I try to help people who want help. If that is wasting my life then so be it.

Oops, sorry I replied.

My comment wasn't meant for you, Sghoshe. You must have posted your YAY CAPITALISM! statement while I was writing. I didn't see it until just now. Sorry, I should have put the poster I was replying to's name at the beginning.

Hello agirlinagarden,

There will be no need to do anything further except let us know what date you would like to cancel your services. We'll process it for you and make sure there are no fees associated with the cancellation, if any.

Thank you,
Amanda

Cancel it on the end of this payment cycle (the 27th).

Hello agirlinagarden,

We've gone ahead and processed this for you and waived the ETF completely. You need not return any equipment. We appreciate you working with us to get this resolved for you, even if we had to cancel your account, but hopefully you can find a provider that meets your needs for work!

Thanks,
Amanda
