Surge protector

I connected my equipment to a surge protector and noticed the adc unit had in and out coaxial terminals.  My Hughes net modem doesn't work when I use these.  Do I even need surge protection for the coaxial, or just the electrical connection?

Just the electrical connection, the coaxial cable is already grounded properly.  Trying to connect a transmission cable like that (since it carrys 48v) to a surge protector will cause serious issues.
