Terribly slow

This service used to be pretty fast but not now.

Here are test results:  https://testmy.net/db/QEX5qTZTh https://testmy.net/QEX5qTZTh.png

That's not that bad for upload speed, especially considering the fourfold or more increase in system load since the pandemic started.

HughesNet upload speeds are up to 3Mbps.  You're getting 50% of that in the one test you supplied; that's pretty good at any one time, but most especially considering the present circumstances nationally and worldwide, which @GabeU mentioned.

Are you currently out of data?

No, plenty of data left.  No problem with upload.  Download is the problem - anywhere between 1.5 and 3.5 mps.  https://testmy.net/db/w1ZBIoZls

I'd suggest you reboot the modem. Sometimes that helps. Also, get more data points. The ones you have now are just for today and this may be a transitory issue.

I don't know that I'd call it terrible, especially considering what's going on with the system right now, but they're no doubt quite low.  I'd get a few more tests in, but this is definitely something the reps should take a look at.  However, with that said, it is possible that it will be the new norm for a while.

Also, just in case you haven't done so, make sure to disable the WiFi in the HT2000W modem while running the tests to ensure that no WiFi devices are sapping any bandwidth during testing.

Edit:  Oops.  Definitely try rebooting the modem, like maratsade suggested.  You can reboot it from the SCC here, or power cycle the modem, which is unplugging it, waiting for at least 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.  Then, after waiting five minutes, try your online activities again.  You should also wait those five minutes after rebooting if you choose to do it through the SCC.

Yes, wi-fi is disabled and pc net cable is plugged directly into the gen5 modem and it has been rebooted.  Another computer on the network gets similar speed results.  At this point this service is a waste of money.

Hi elo,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community! Glad to see you've already started working with some of your fellow community members. I pulled up your account to run diagnostics and found that the HughesNet system is working normally. I know those speed results are lower than you expect, and they are certainly lower than what we want to provide our customers.

What is it exactly you’re trying to do online that prompted running tests? I can assist you in resolving that and would like to set the expectation that although we may be able to help resolve difficulties you’re having (since most online content requires only a few Mbps to function), your speed tests results may not change.  This is a direct result of the majority of the nation working and learning from home, and not only increasing the traffic on our network, but on the providers used by major websites to deliver their content.
