Throttled down again, WHY?

Have been customer for many years now and had my share of technical support and home agents trying to fix out data input and output. When we complain, for about two weeks everything works so well that we are amazed! Then the throttling down begins, and by the time three weeks goes by, we are getting 10+ buffering sessions every time we watch NETFLIX, As a result, for the past few months we have been watching other venues. Also, because of throttling down the signal strength into our home is not enough to support a home security system through ADT Security Services. Help?

Have you used up your data allowance? That's when people get throttled.

Other than when one's service plan data has been exhausted, at no time does HughesNet throttle anyone's service.  Buffering can be caused by many things, with the most prominent being system congestion.

When you call it's likely that your system is "reset", clearing things out, which can have the effect of making the service better than it was for a while.  If you don't already, you can unplug your modem once in a while and leave it off for at least a minute before plugging it back in.  This can achieve at least some of what the reps do when you call.

As for your security camera, if you're speaking of WiFi signal strength, and it's inadequate for such, you may want to look at either the HughesNet WiFi booster, which can extend the range of the HT2000W's WiFi, or a 3rd party router that has better WiFi range than the HT2000W modem.

Thank You for your response. I am already using a third party router and signal extender which have improved the quality of my service. However, with an upload speed of less that 3, it is impossible to use any of the "Home" security features available with my security provider, who advised that I need an upload speed of at least 10 for a Home Security system. I have also been advised to look into a private third party provider that can guarantee between a 10-15 upload speed. A tech is coming by next week who will run a few tests with their system to see what I speeds would be available at my location. Let's see, and I will report the results next week.

One thing to consider is that typically the transmitter in a home satellite setup will be low enough power that sufficient forward error correction is necessary. It's also typical that this kind of forward error correction requires a best of 4 redundancy. So although what you see is 3Mb upload speed, the actual data stream is approximately four times that. Bottom line: The low rate you're seeing is simply an engineering tradeoff to achieve an acceptible level of transmission reliability that's not necessarily required in the receive direction.
