What to Do With My Old Equipment

I called HN to cancel my service and asked about my dish and modem.  They said to keep both.  What to do with them?  Are they good for anything/anyone or just put them out for the trashman?

I think about the only things worth salvaging are the modem and the radio, maybe someone here can use them, and would pay to have them shipped.   Otherwise, there used to be salvage companies that would take old electronic equipment, grind them up, and salvage the steel, copper, and precious metals.  With the way the bottom has fallen out of scrap metal market lately, I don't know if any are any still in business.

Sounds like you may think as I do,  I just hate to throw anything away!
