Worked great for first 30 days.

Worked great for first 30 days.  (voip) works great! Internet ok but streaming drops out uses a lot of data. Sales people lied about fees.  Speed up and down even in clear weather. Used refurbished equipment is trail and error to find good equipment.  Installer was great even though he wasn't paid for call backs changing bad equipment. Data allows about 5 HD movies a month for premium service.  Only use in rual area if no other options. FCC needs to investagate..

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Simply can not stream HD videos on capped satellite service. You do realize that you signed up for a set amount of data every month and everything you do uses that data?

Not sure what you are saying about used and refurbished equipment.

Even if weather is clear at your location bad weather at your Gateway can cause loss or slowdown of internet.

Also, first 10-20 days as new customer your allowance resets everyday to allow for updating and installing software from possibly being offline for a long time.

And FCC assigns and monitors frequency allocation. They really don't get into customer complaints about service. Unless you are talking public broadcasting TV and radio channels. HughesNet satellite is neither.

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

In addition to the aforementioned weather at the gateway, speeds will fluctuate due to the number of people being online. Normally, peak usage times are in the morning and evening, and the speeds can vary a good deal between peak and off peak periods.

Streaming in HD can use 3GB, or even more, per hour.  Streaming in SD, or even LD, will use a good deal less, but you still have a finite amount of data and must be vigilant when doing so.

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Hello Don,

We're sorry your expectations are not being met with the our service and would love to help you out with that. We can also run diagnostics on your HughesNet equipment to see where the problem is.

As BirdDog and Gabe mentioned, there is a limit to your data per month and downloading or streaming HD content will use that up very quickly.. In regards to the FCC investigating us, we recently were monitored by the FCC's project  Measuring Broadband America. The FCC is aware of why data caps are needed and that we use limited data service plans - in fact, Comcast, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and many other providers have data caps too. You can read more about the FCC's Measuring Broadband America here - https://www.fcc.gov/reports-research/reports/measuring-broadband-america/measuring-broadband-america...

Thanks

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Hi Don,

Just finished running some diagnostics on your site. Seems when you were first installed their may have been a problem with alignment which was fixed by a free dispatch later. Since that point your diagnostics have looked really good. Not sure if you are still experiencing speeds going up and down. Hopefully not. Let us know if you have anymore concerns that we can help with. Tips on Data management for example. Between us official reps, and community members there's lots to go around :-).

Thank you,
Chris

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

I  marked the settings with marker before the serviceman came.  He adjusted for a hour and never got any better so he swapped the refurbished radio (thing that looks at the dish) and the beeping was way louder right away and the marks where the same place.  They just said adjustment so they wouldn't have to pay the service installer.

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Wasn't told by sales of the extra data for downloads the first month till after.  Also wasn't told about the extra fees to install the router till the installation.

Where is the gateway?  I sure hope its not in a snow state.

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Gateways are at various locations mainly in the West and North Central regions. Pretty sure those dishes have heaters but heavy snow coming down can impact service, just like heavy thunderstorms.

Re: Worked great for first 30 days.

Hi don,

You were charged by the installer to hook up your router? Or were you sold a router by the installer?
