slow speed in the evening

DOWNLOAD SPEED: 0.85 Mbps
UPLOAD SPEED: 1.09 Mbps  this is the speed I just tested now, 8:15 or so this pm.

 

these unacceptable speeds are what we get after about 7:45 pm pacific daylight time....it is abysmally slow causing a few minutes, if that ,of streaming at speeds only appropriate to messaging, if that....why? and how can this be improved

To get help with speed issues, please first ensure that you have not exhausted your plan data.  You can check your data levels on the Home page of the modem's System Control Center.  If you have plan data, please run some speed tests using the protocol in the following post.  The reps will need the speed test results in order to help with your speed issue.  They are on M-F from approximately 9AM to 6PM EST.

If you ran the speed tests as required, please post the link to your Testmy.net results page.

My instructions weren't to fix your issue.  They were troubleshooting instructions.  As stated in both the instructions themselves and my reply, the reps will need your test results.  The tests both demonstrate the issue and give additional information concerning your speeds, but the link to those speed tests must be posted in your reply so that the reps can view them.  Without that, no one can help you.  

 

Sign into your testmy.net account, then click "My Results" on the upper right of the main page.  On your results page, copy the URL in the address bar and paste it into a reply, the post it.  This will allow the reps to see your results.

 

Additionally, if the tests you ran are more than a few days old, it would be best to run another series, as they should be recent.   

 

Below is more thorough instructions in case you need to run them again.  Please be sure to read them thoroughly.

To help the HughesNet Customer Service Reps get a head start on your speed concerns, please create a testmy.net account (if you do not already have one) and, while signed into that account, perform a batch of 3-5 tests during different parts of the day, then share your testmy.net "My Results" page URL with us here.

Most important points to remember during this test:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem with a LAN cable (NO third party Router or Wireless devices can be used)
-disable the WiFi in the HT2000W modem while the speed tests are being performed
-the testing device should be the ONLY device connected to the HughesNet modem while testing
-use the manual 25MB size download test file
-if testing upload instead of download, use the manual 4MB size upload test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your testmy results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/yourusername

The Reps are on M-F from approximately 9AM to 6PM EST. They will be the ones to address your speed issues, but they will need these tests to do so.

If you don't know how to disable the WiFi in the HT2000W modem, please see "How do I manage my built-in WiFi modem?" in this PDF. Please be sure to click "Save Settings" after unchecking "SSID Enable" for each of the four tabs individually (2.4Ghz, then 2.4Ghz Guest, then 5Ghz, then 5Ghz Guest).
