@BirdDog  Do you use a router or just direct connect to the modem?  I never really went to www.systemcontrolcenter.com on my HN9000 system,  I have a few times in the past though and it worked.   Cant remember if I did with my current router or not.    @GabeU  I still dont know what you mean by Hughesnet's DNS servers.  How do you change servers?   Did you try using Google's while directly connected to the modem not over WiFi.  But the HughesNet WiFi should work being its built in the modem.   I am not a fan of the built in WiFi so I really dont want to test it on mine.  (I'd have to turn the WiFi  on to test) ... To use your own router just plug it into one of the jacks on the back of the HT2000W modem.  Everything in your router will still be set how it was and you can connect to your network as you always did before upgradeing to the HT2000W.  You do not have to connect to the HughesNet WiFi.  I went to WiFi settings and turn all the wireless connections off in my HT2000W and only use my old router.   To turn it off, go to 192.168.0.1  click WiFi Settings on the left  enter password (default is admin - if you have not changed it)   Then next to SSID Enable uncheck the box, click save settings -- Click on 5Ghz  and uncheck the box next to SSID Enable as well, click save settings.   ... I see posts in different threads about going to www.systemcontrolcenter.com ....  Nothing loads for me on my Gen5 system.  I get a The connection has timed out message.  I can load 192.168.0.1 with no problem.   Why wont it load going to the web address as well?  Any other Gen5 users have this issue as well? ... I couldnt remember what was recommened to run tests on I thought I seen someone say 12 so thats what I was using for most and as you could tell the one jumped up to 73.4 MB.    I think the 50 was directly connected to the modem.  I have tested 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections with my WD Router.  The last test I ran was with my laptop using the 5G connection on the WD Router  (20.59 Mbps)   It is not a daily reset..  ( @GabeU I guess you were on the 20 day reset)  I have noticed my usage was reset 3 or 4 times already in 7 hours.  Yea I am going to wait and make sure it keeps resetting at least tomorrow as well.  Then I will do more if it does.  I might even let the kids have full access for a while ... or is that too much LMAO.. ... @GabeU   Your Gen5 was on the 20 day reset correct?  After the 20 days did your month restart or did you have the remainder of the month to use your plan data?   My account shows Allowance Resets in 29 days.    On the HN9000 system there was a Troubleshooting option in the System Control Center.  I dont see a Troubleshooting for Gen5.  Is there anyway to test if there is a problem and then reset the connection.  I also do not see anywhere to Restart the modem.  Is the only way to restart by unplugging the power? ... Yeah,  Basic is best for most people.  If it wasnt for my niece and nephew I would possibly give the built in WiFi a try.  But then again I have multiple devices and tablets and the Kindle Fire tablets I have like to do random system updates with out warning and you cant turn off auto update for the system updates.   Some of the speed tests that I ran were quite slow.  I was tested and ran tests on different connections.  Started with my WD Router and it was extremely slow.  Did tests with the built in WiFi and direct.  I have to say I did get a bit speed test happy LOL.... Some of the tests I ran on testmy.net kept going up to higher data usage.  I didnt really do much except speed tests and test a few websites and played a game for about 20 mins and my usage meter showed I used 500 MB in about 2 hours... That is how mine is as well.  When first opening Browser and going to a site it is takes a little while for it to load, or loading a new site on an additional tab.     Thats good to know that the lower signal is better with the Gen5 system.   With just having Gen5 for about 6 hours and the little that I have been doing and testing everything I find it to be fantastic as well.      I am not a fan of the WiFi though.  I dont know how the distance is with it, but I do not think I will be using it unless they add some much needed features.  I have Gargoyle-Router firmware installed on a Western Digital MyNet N750 dual ban router.   There is a Quota usage feature in Gargoyle,  so I can set all my devices to a certain Download limit and then Throttle or Shut Down all Internet Access for the device once the limit is reached.  I have found it to work great with the 375 daily limit I had with my Spaceway System.  With 2 children under 16 in the house the Quota Limits are much needed!    I have my WD Router hanging on wall so its pretty much out of the way.  I was just thinking about putting a small shelf on the wall to sit the HT2000 on it to get it up off the desk and out of the way.  Plus I dont like all the holes that are on the top.  The holes are pretty BIG!    Bringing up the Modem,  what I researched I was thinking it would be MUCH larger than it is.  I was thinking it would be a few inches taller and wider.   But it is a decent size,  but weird with all the big openings and how its shaped.  ... My upgrade was done today, I am faily happy with the Gen5 system and speeds.  It is better than the HN9000 Spaceway system I had.  I was unable to load alot of flash embedded pages correctly.  With Gen5 these pages load with out a problem.    There is a slight delay in loading pages at times though, is anyone else having this issue?  I see someone did post about sluggish pages but I dont know if everyone is having the problem.    Question on the dish install... All my previous systems had a ground wire attached to the feed horn on the arm of the dish.  The installer did not attach the ground wire this time.  Does anyone else have a ground wire attached to theirs? (The installer chopped the one cable and ground wire off back behind the dish)   I have been seeing signal strength of 100 for my system,  My HN9000 had signal strength in the mid 100's with max around 160.  I hope 100 will hold up good in heavy rain and snow with Gen5. ... I did not think HughesNet charges any taxes or additional fees.  I have had service since 2008 and on a $69.99 plan.... bill is $69.99 every month (just a note I purchased my equipment).  My monthly fee has never went up in the 9 years with the service!   I expect the same with Gen5 (which I just signed up for the upgrade).  I expect to have no taxes or fees added and the price to be exactly what it is advertised now for the entire time with the service ($49.99 for 12 months then $69.99 after 12 months until I switch or cancel the service).  ... Here is the trees in my situation...  The group of trees that are circled is my main concern.  And possibly the limbs from another tree that are coming into picture from right (shown best in first picture). That tree gets huge leaves which weigh the limbs down. It is a good bit to the right from my current Spaceway3 install though. We will find out here in a few days or weeks after I have Gen5 installed.   Also, I have tried the SatFinder app on my one Samsung tablet and I was not able to get it to locate satellite and find any obstructions.  I did notice with a compass app that I tried using it was saying no sensor found.   This tablet is a POS.  I wanted to try using my phone or another tablet but haven't had any outside and think of trying them.   ... Have you made sure your Ethernet adapter has up to date drivers?  You can check this by Right clicking on start and go to Device Manager  under Network look for an adapter that says 10/100 (I believe that should be in the adapter name).  Click on it and go to Driver and click update... Also be sure there is not a yellow "!" Next to the adapter name.    Once you are certain your adapter is up to date and no issues be sure your adapter is not disabled.. To check you can right click on Start and go to Network Connections. Be sure Ethernet is showing and has not conflicts.  You can right click on Ethernet and be sure it is not disabled.   You also can run Troubleshooting on the adapter by Right clicking and going to Diagnose...   Troubleshooting should detect if the adapter is disabled and automatically turn it of...    Hope this information is helpful and you figure out the problem.   ... This is pretty much how I feel with my system right now...  feel as tho I am being put in situation to have to upgrade and pay for the new equipment.  My HN9000 system has been sluggish and have to restart modem multiple times an hour just to continue browsing!   My daily limit is low, but I have gotten used to it and not sure how I'd react to a monthly limit... if I use all my data I know the next day I will have more data to use internet,  but if the Gen5 plan speeds after exceeding monthly limit is what they say it shouldn't be bad I guess.... but then there's the Free Zone limits with Gen5   coming from unlimited!!  Monthly costs for the Gen5 plan I'd get  is the same as im paying now (less for 12 months)  unless it's higher for current customers who upgrade..     Being a customer since 2008 should be able to get a free upgrade and not have to pay full price for equipment .... I always liked Firefox, but with their last several updates it seams to be getting worse.  Their security settings are blocking way too much needed information from what it seams.   I myself always liked Chrome also but I like clearing history and everything when I close the Browser instead of going in and doing it manually every now and then.  With Chrome I do not think they have the option to delete on close.  ... I was able to Sign Up going to Sign In first...  I also used Chrome instead of Firefox which may also been an issue.... With Firefox I was not getting the check box for "I am not a robot" crap!     I know this is totally off topic, bringing up Chrome and Firefox, what browser do you recommend using with HughesNet?   My HN9000 System Control Center seams to not have a lag with Download Allowance (that I have ever noticed)  Maybe its because I have a daily usage limit.  Yes, I was just playing around to see if the speeds changed at all with the higher test,  and the lower amounts didnt show much data being used so I figured Id just see what happened with higher.  Its been almost 2 hours since I started running some of the tests and my Usage does not show any lower than it was after the tests were completed.     ... I checked all the details for the Spaceway 3 satellite and checked the adjustments on my dish, and everything is pretty much exact as what the site says,  maybe 0.5 - 1 degree difference... But yeah, the Echostar 19 details may be more off, but will give a good idea.    I only have Android devices,  I want to get an iPad but I dont know if that app is compatible with iPads.  I was trying to find an app for Android but never found or tried to test any.    WOW,  thats amazing you used Loopers to cut down an entire tree... LOL...  You couldn't go to a local hardware store or something and rent a chainsaw?  If you live in a wooded area maybe would have been good to invest in a chainsaw,  I believe you should be able to get one under $100.   But anyway, im glad to hear you got the tree taken down safely and successfuly! ... Slightly off topic,  but I attempted to sign up on testmy.net, and I get an error message saying Security was unable to pass or something...  does anyone know what that means, and how to get it to work?   I was just running some tests on my HN9000 system,  I did a few different download sizes, all results are around 7.5 Mbps.   I checked my remaining usage before, during, and after each test  and it does not seam to be using much if at all ANY usage on my System Control Centers Download Allowance Status page....  A 50 MB test only dropped 1 MB of usage....  I dont know if the Gen4 or Gen5 systems count all the usage from the tests.     Also.... I NEVER see speeds that fast when I am downloading stuff,  my average is around 4.5 mbps... how and why does testmy.net show almost DOUBLE the speeds that I actually get?? ... View more

I cant really judge by using the obstruction feature.  The trees are on a slight hill from where my dish is located.  But yeah I think I want to be better safe than sorry and cut the questionable trees down before I get Gen5 installed.  (My dad cuts down trees for a living, so its not a big problem)    When I had my HN9000 system installed, the installed mentioned that the trees may be an issue, and recommended them be taken down.  But my service and signal has always been around where it was when installed and never had much of a problem with connection issues.  My inital install in 2008 was with an HN7000s modem, I dont know what satellite I was on at that time, but I believe it was further East and there was no trees to cause a problem.  ... No I have not tried disabling Turbopage.   I am not exactly sure how and what good it does, so I never tried.  Plus, when my system itself shows a Red Flag and says Turbopage is disabled on its own,  my connection is worse than normal, NOTHING LOADS!   Within the past 10-20 mins I was trying to load websites,  HughesNet Community being one of the sites.  NOTHING was loading.  I reset Turbopage, I went to testmy.net and did a few Download speed tests,  and they all showed 4 - 8 Mbps.... I don't know.  I attempt to browse simple websites which do not load, I immediately go and do a Problem Troubleshooting test which comes up no problems and I reset turbopage  sometimes that works and the pages will load.  If the website still don't load I do Hard or Soft Modem Restart and my I am able to load the sites.   If it's due to weather I don't really see resetting turbopage or restarting modem fixing the issue immediately!   ...
