Just an FYI. The new data point showing a 31 Mbps data point was after I called support and them applying token data for testing purposes. When that runs out I'll re-run speed test again.

Occurred right after I used up my normal data allowance and was throtted (like last time). Previous I was permanentley throttled to less than 0.4 Mbps for nearly 2 weeks, no matter the time of day...it was CLEARLY a hard cap placed on my account. Had several calls placed and received from tech support with no resolution. Also I was sent a new modem to try, but the install did not work even with help from advanced tech support's help. I reinstalled previous modem and I was able to get a connection again albeit still less then .4 Mbps. On Feb 3rd I finally achieved 2 - 3 Mbps normal speed range, that is until today. So WHY I am being super throttled at less than .4Mbps yet again ? I expect this will go for days or even weeks last time. This is unacceptable. With both 2G and 5G radios disabled, and using an ethernet connection on one machine, with no apps or stray processes running (Just Hughes and Testmynet) this what I'm geetting with a 25 MB file DL - https://testmy.net/db/JkT3Fa4B0

Update - A hughes rep called me a few days ago and walked me through some setting changes on the modem. Tried doing several simpe DL tests, but couldn't see any real improvement. His final suggestion was to try another modem. Received of days ago but haven't had the time yet to swap it out and test it. Today however I noticed a major increase in speed while loading a web page. Decided to check TMN and and I'm getting right around 3 Mbps. Not sure if this a one-off because it's Sunday, and I'll end up being capped at .3 Mbps during the week, but IT IS WELCOME sign that something has changed in my case. Here is a more rational update to my situation. To Gabe's well made point about clarity, I DID have my Byte and bit declarations mixed up ! I was finally able to perfrom some DL batches via TMN could get 25MB files to finish, so I used 12MB files with success. Here is the results so far - https://testmy.net/quickstats/FortyFeetBelow So if the data is correct, then I'm getting DL speeds closer to 320 Kbps, not 40 Kbps. But still this is very slow compared to what I was geeting before the last throtting period last month, Hope this helps clarify. I'll also install Glasswire and and look at my setup. I wish I could get even .3 Mbps. I'm getting about 10% of that. Based on you are saying this is known issue that Hughesnet is refusing to address.

Created a mytest.net account. Tried twice to conduct a 25 MB DL test. First run the DL started and 'froze' at 25% completed. Waited about an hour with no change. Started test again only to end up 25%. Waited another hour with no change. So looks like I can'e even conduct a basic DL test.

For the sake of clarity, I did improperly use MBps insated of Mbps. I'm basing my conversion from SL speed numbers avering around the 40Kbps figure. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm a 10+ year Hughesnet customer. I do understand what it means to live with throttled DL speeds, and I AM PERFECLTY OK with it. But the previous month's DL speeds are consistently around .04 MB/s...nowhere near the lower 1-3 MB/s adverized throttled speeds. That's 4% less than the lowest throttled threshold. And the .04MB/s DL speed is the average morning, day and night, with only 1 PC connected via a LAN cable, wifi disabled on the modem. All sources or data uses have been thorouly eliminated. I've called Support, and all I get is basically that I need to buy more tokens as there are no gurantees on DL speed. BUT... 40kbps consistenly all day long, every day ?? There is something VERY wrong here, and I can't tolerate this state of affairs much longer. Any help available before I'm forced to canel the service ?

I DL'ed the new Status Meter. However I noticed there are 2 instances of Hugesnet Status Meter.exe *32 running in my Task Manager, with the description "Electron". The previous version only had 1 instance, but I realize the new version may need 2 instances to Anytime vs. Bonus data. However, the file description being "Electron" raises suspicion as to whether this app is genuine or not. I called tech support (Ref # 55193371) and was told by rep that the Electron description was in fact worrisome (she placed me on hold and consulted nest level tech support), and that I should disable the app until Engineering support reviews the matter. There aren't apparent checksum values available to validate the downloaded file. The rep had me remove and re-download the app file so as to insure I was using the correct source link, and reinstall. The results were the same with the description being "Electron". I'm guessing the file description might be due to a new repackaging vendor via Github...but at this point I DON'T KNOW that to be true until verified by Hughesnet Engineering. As an aside, we do NEED MD5 or SHA checksum values in the future for such apps that by nature are known to be possible malware exploits.
