Can this internet be any slower?

Since the community board has changed I am unable to find my previous post.  Maybe Hughes Net deleted since they did not like the slowness complaint and responses.

Still very frustrated with the slowness of this supposedly "high speed" internet.  Hughes Net charges high fees for this service, what a rip off!!!  With speeds of .21 to 2.87 they should be paying me to be with Hughes not the other way around.  Customer Support, hah, takes 3 days to call back, then the give you a run around and/or spout disclaimers.  Then they want you to complete a survey, who are they kidding, will it really make a difference.

mentusk,

Welcome to the new HughesNet Community.

With regard to your previous post, it may be somewhere, but it also may be difficult to find.

Also with regard to your previous post, was there anything that had been asked thus far?  Any speed testing requests?  Anything at all?

Edit:  Probably not now due to it being the weekend, but this thread may end up being moved to the "Tech Support" section.

mentusk,

If you made your thread after they started the data transfer, then your thread was not transfered to the new community.  If they didn't like the topic, they wouldn't have just deleted the topic, they would have barred your account from the forum, just saying.

In order to help the Hughesnet Customer Service Reps get a head start on your speed concerns, you should create a testmy.net account and perform 3-5 tests during different parts of the day, all using a 12MB manual download test. Then share the account results link with us here.

Please keep in mind that Hughesnet will only accept testmy.net and the official Hughesnet speed test results. Tests from other sites like speedtest.net are not accepted due to the compression technologies and latency that satellite deploys.

Most important points:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem with a LAN cable (NO ROUTER or Wireless devices)
-use the 12MB size download test file
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/C0RR0SIVE

For a more in depth guide on running the tests, please visit: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx

The Reps are on M-F from approximately 8AM to 5PM Eastern. They will be the ones to address your speed issues, but they will need these tests to do so, if you have already completed a series of tests that are recent (in the last 24 hours or so) then you shouldn't have to do anymore and can just share your results URL.
