Following a call from Yair (Tier 4 Rep??) on ticket 107860875 the speeds went up to 25 - 35 (I will take it), for 1 day. We are now back to dial up speeds. I apprecaite the return of the missing tokens. and the $ adjustments, however gigagigs for free is a worthless commodity. Now, if we can get to as promised speeds l will be happy. With no real sustained progress since July I am not to hopeful. Dialup email and no FB. Brings back fond memories.
Not to address your speed issue, as I can't, but only the all too common "slower than dialup" or " dialup speed" claim.
The average dialup speed, using the same data transfer rate layout, would be about 0.03Mbps to 0.04Mbps. Your lower posted speed of 0.5 Mbps is more than twelve times that, and nearly nine times the highest possible (more like theoretical) dialup speed.
With that said, your speed is low, no doubt, and I hope the issue is soon fixed for you.
Thanks for posting, I pulled up your account to address your concerns and see you're currently subject to the Fair Access Policy, so at this moment, that is the cause of the slow speeds. You do have tokens available for use so you can check if abnormally slow speeds still persist for you. If they do, please create a testmy.net account and run 3 tests during the slowdown. Post your test results link here in your thread so that I may share this link with engineers if needed.
Please keep in mind that Hughesnet will only accept testmy.net and the official Hughesnet speed test results. Tests from other sites like speedtest.net are not accepted due to the compression technologies and latency that satellite deploys.
Most important points to remember during this test:
-do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem with a LAN cable (NO third party Router or Wireless devices can be used)
-use the 25MB size download test file ONLY if on Gen5 Service Plan
-space each test at least 5 minutes apart
-post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/C0RR0SIVE
For a more in depth guide on running the tests, please visit: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx
Your cooperation, patience, and understanding are much appreciated.
