FYI: You just can't trust wireless devices to behave.

I brought my Samsung Galaxy Tab4 home for a recharge and overlooked the fact that it was left in a "soft-off" hibernate state rather than a true powered off condition.

The result being that it decided to wake up about 6am all on its own and use 13.1 MB.

That is not a lot of data but it does illustrate the point that what appears to be "off" isn't and that devices can wake on their own and "do stuff".

It really is essential that everyone understand the "shape" of their Network and all of the potential "connection paths".

Thanks for sharing Gwalk. My Android tablets do periodically use a bit of data checking for update but of course I have them set for manual approval in order to download updates. Never had them gobble up a huge amount on their own though. Wife is always falling asleep with WiFi left on, mentioned it to her a couple times. Not worth a big argument, lol.

Its not that I have any data worries but it is the principle of the whole thing.
