DIRECTV Enduring Major Outage Today

PLEASE DO NOT RESET YOUR DIRECTV RECEIVER!!!

Please note this is apparently all across the country.

The receivers will first display a message that the receiver has not downloaded the guide for the last (x) hours. if you ignore it, most channels will continue to come in.

When you go to some channels, such as Fox News HD, you get a black screen message that the the channel is unavailable due to a technical issue and to try tuning to the SD version. If you do follow the onscreen instructions to try resetting the receiver using the red button behind the front door, you will then disable your receiver. As it reboots, it will hang on Acquiring Guide Data. Of course, by this time, it will be too late.

Three calls this am. Duplicated the problem here in our office.

<start rant>

I'm floored by all the "Conspiracy Theorist" posts. Why does everything nowadays have to be made political? Only demonstrates how stupid and gullible we are as a species.

Sounds like a programmer at DirecTV is in a lot of trouble.
