Is it just me, or have you noticed that the spectacular download speeds we've been getting for the last couple of months have dropped back down to around the previous speeds? I'm not complaining, just curious if you've noticed this, too, or if you are still getting those awesome speeds?
My speeds (beam 13) never did hit the fantastic highs some of have reported.
Mine usually run 16 to 19 Mbps on my "up to" 15 Mbps rated Ultra plan.
It may be do to beam loading as I see that Ultra is no longer offered as an option in my local area within beam13.
Still in all, mine runs well in that I very seldom "feel" a prime time slowdown.
Well, the FCC article that's often referenced is actually from 2015, but like mentioned above, and as I figured it probably was, it's most likely just normal fluctuations. I'm sure leveling is being done on an automatic basis, so it's wasn't really unexpected. I was just curious what was happening with other folks.
In the evenings mine can drop considerably, sometimes even down to between 1Mbps and 2Mbps, but for general browsing, that's still plenty.
No doubt, the low 20's is fantastic, considering my plan is for up to 10. And when I started Gen4, I had decided that I was going to be happy with 60% of the up to speed as well. We that get these speeds are really lucky, to be honest. The couple months of hitting 30s was amazing. But, again, even with the 20s, it's still better than I could have hoped for. Heck, when coming from 1.6Mbps, what I'm getting is awesome, considering I'm paying nearly the same.
Specifically, starting on the 27th or 28th of August. I didn't perform any speed tests on the 27th, so it may have slowed then, but the ones from the 28th on have been pretty much what they were before the speed really kicked up about a month and a half ago. The speeds went up considerably around July 13th. Like I said, though, I'm still getting fantastic speeds, so I'm not complaining or anything. It was just curiosity more than anything else.
But, with all that said, it looks like I may have spoken too soon, as it looks like they are back up there again. LOL. I guess just a fluctuation for a few days. It's all good. 🙂
Yep. Definitely spoke too soon.
retdrumsgt,
Just in case you are not aware (they don't usually disclose this in the sales call), for the first ten or twenty days of your service, depending on the modem you have, your data allowance will reset daily, so no matter how much data you use today, your allowance will be full again tomorrow. Just keep an eye one it. Some people don't watch it, end up getting used to streaming all the time and such, then on day 11 or 12 or 21 or 22 they end up going over their data. Just a heads up. They do this as a courtesy to allow you to update or upgrade your devices and such without it counting against what would normally be your 30 day data allowance. Again, just keep an eye on your usage, either with the Hughesnet Status Meter, signing in at the Dashboard, or looking at the System Control Center.
You can get the Status Meter here, and also sign in to see your data...
Your System Control Center is here...
Glad you like the service.
