SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

I just had hughes net installed last week. I can't even stream music on Alexa. Video calling is non-existant and trying to watch you tube for school is impossible. Download speed is 4 not 25 and my cell phone works better and it is cricket.. 60 bucks a month for a headache. I would not recommend this for my worst enemy.

Re: SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Before the Hughesnet reps on this site can help you regarding speeds, you will need to do the following:

1. Create a free account at Testmy.net.
2. Before you begin testing, disable the WiFi (to see how to disable WiFi on the HT2000W modem, look under "How do I manage my built in WiFi modem?" here: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Documents/1041318-0001_a.pdf)
3. Run the tests while your device is connected directly to the modem via a LAN cable
4. To test download speeds, use the manual 25MB size
5. To test upload speeds, use the manual 4MB size
6. Run 3 to 5 tests, at least 5 minutes apart. Repeat at different times during the day.
7. Post your tests results here -- the URL will look like this: http://testmy.net/quickstats/yourusername

These tests, while they may be cumbersome, are REQUIRED before the Hughesnet reps can begin to diagnose what may be wrong with your site.

Re: SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Good morning timothylawrence,

I see it's your first post here, so welcome to the community! I pulled up your account and ran diagnostics on your site. The HughesNet equipment is working normally, and all your connected devices have a good connection to the network.

Since you're new to the service, you may want to check these resources out to get the most out it:

Re: SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Thanks for getting back to me. This service is horrible. I cannot even stream music from amazon. I have done everything and 4mbs is not acceptable.

not acceptable

This service is horrible. I cannot even stream music from amazon. I have done everything and 4mbs is not acceptable. Takes an hour to watch a 4 minute you tube video for school. Just because I am new here, does not mean I do not pay for more than 4mbs. https://testmy.net/quickstats/avmcdrifter

Re: not acceptable

  • HughesNet has prioritized some internet activities over others, due to the pandemic.  Streaming is currently deprioritized, so it won't work well for many people.
  • During normal times, streaming is possible with 4Mbps. Because so many people are learning and working from home, congestion is affecting streaming ability (on top of the deprioritized state of streaming in general).
  • You pay for a data package. Speeds are not guaranteed.  For more information, see the subscriber agreement here: https://legal.hughesnet.com/SubAgree-03-16-17.cfm
