Slow download speed (under 100Kib/sec) on all machines hard wired to Hughesnet router

Per subject, I'm getting very slow http downloads on all my machine regardless of the website. FTP download speed averages 4-5 MB/sec.on a 680MB file. All my machines run Linux, not Windows, and are hardwired to my Hughesnet router. What could be causing the great difference in download speeds between FTP and HTTP downloads?

According to https://testmy.net/quickstats/larry29936, those download speeds are very good, way above advertising (which is 25 Mbps), so the speed delivered to the modem seems to be just fine.  Someone else will likely have an explanation of why FTP speeds are less.

I agree, the speeds look great.  I'm not sure why download speeds would be slow from http websites.

Liz, The tech neither reached out to me or showed up. Please reschedule for me.

Good morning Larry,

Looks like your local dealer called both numbers on file and e-mailed you. Did you at least get an e-mail to your HughesNet account? You can try calling your assigned local dealer, OnRamp National LLC at (706) 733-0988 to sort things out. Please let me know how it goes.

You can get help on this site by going to either Tech Support or myAccount and Billing, starting your own thread (just click the blue button labeled +Start a topic),  and providing some details about the issue(s). There's also online chat and a 24/7 toll free number.  The reps on this site work business hours M-F and typically respond within two business days.
