Unable to access certain websites

Unable to access certain smaller sites for the last 3-4 days, i.e. clublexus.com, gold-eagle.com....very similar to the problem Ecoalex2 is having on another thread and we are in the same general local and on the same beam...... Been going to these sites for years and never had this problem before. They either time out or fail to load completely or incorrectly load in vertical fashion like they are under construction.

The sites seem to be lower traffic sites and it doesn't matter the time of day or night. Financial sites and heavy traffic sites (Yahoo, Google, Amazon etc.) work fine, so far..... I have the same problem on 4 different computers even when they are individually connected to the modem via ethernet cable. I run Windows 10 OS and Edge and Chrome browsers.

I have done numerous sequential booting and rebooting of modem and computers to no avail. I have also flushed the DNS and cleared cookies and cache several times and temporarily turned off web acceleration. Any help would be most appreciated.

**Update**    Site access returned to normal last night at about 8:00pm......This morning the problem is back......refreshing after time out does not help

Hi Nacomas3,

Thanks for much for posting and including everything you've done so far, this helps immensely. I just made an adjustment to the modem, please have another try and let me know if the sites work.

If they still don't work, please try disabling IPv6 on whatever device you're using to browse. You mentioned you're on Windows 10 so here are instructions on how to do it there.  Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Liz

Hi Liz,

Thanks for the prompt reply. The change you made on my modem did not help.

HOWEVER,  disabling IPv6 and restarting the computer has worked on all the problematic sites. Hopefully, the fix will have legs. Thanks for all your help.  Nacomas3

In my Linux networking settings, I see Ipv4 settings are blank, Ipv6 settings are partially filled in. I assume I am using Ipv6 networking. Glad your back to full browsing:)

Ecolalex.....I don't if this means anything, but before I disabled IPv6 both v6 and IPv4 were enabled. Good luck, Nacomas

Nacomas- glad you got yours working. I'm using Linux, so a little different. My rationale is if the settings on my Linux worked with no problems for all the years I had Hughes why now? It doesn't make sense to me to change my Ipv settings is required to fix my problem, especially after the techs tweaked at their end and fixed my Azure standard problem. I had a wikipedia problem this afternoon. Mediaite still doesn't load either nor a few other sites. The problem is on their end, not mine, why should I change my settings that have worked well for the 5 years or so I've had Hughes? The problem is only on beam 19 also as far as I can tell. You and I only have the same problem? you with windows, I with Linux, Android, Kindle, all 3 platforms had the same problem. I still have the same problem with my Android phone. So I am supposed to change my Ipv settings on it too? All 3 platforms have the problem, and it's me, when all was well for years? really? I disagree.

Good morning Nacomas3,

Thank you for this update and sharing what you did. These details are also helping our engineers try to get to the bottom of this so it can be resolved for all who still having issues. I'll keep your thread open a while longer in case anything changes or if maybe engineering has follow-up questions for you.

The techs seem to have our problem solved. I didn't mess with my Ipv settings, I refused to. I nod my cap to another Sierra footer , Happy Trails 🙂

Ecoalex.....You were correct on insisting the problem was on their end. My internet access works great now even with IPv6 enabled. No happy trails until this years fire season is over.  😉 Nacomas3

Just glad it is all back, Hughes has been good to me, it took some patience , Liz kept saying they would fix the speed problem, and they did, switching me back to the old satellite, the western subscribers had the new bird maxed out, they switched me back to the old, with the newer compression technology, and the speed problem was solved. It took a couple of months, but 2 years ago and more, it's been good, no problems. Liz is great, a pro, and solves my problems, we are fortunate to have her, and the others Hughes mods, the techs. My hat's off to all;) We made it past 9-11- when the Butte fire came thru here, we evacuated, but returned Saturday morning, and stayed inside the hard closure of Old Gulch Rd. We needed gas for our generators, the 2nd CHP was a young ramrod, so we had to pass the gas cans across the closure line under his gaze. It's so dry, all it takes is some stupid, or an accident...The nites are long and cool, but the threat remains. East floods, West fires. Hope you make it ok too. Happy Trails 😉

Good morning Nacomas3,

Our engineers did resolve this so there shouldn't be any issue now. Thank you again for your input, it helped us out!

And ecoalex, I appreciate the kind words, we're just doing our jobs. I'm glad we're able to help. 🙂

Thanks,

Liz
