Website I can no longer access - a user Forum - why?

OK, wonder what is going on.  Resetting the modem by disconnecting it form power makes no difference.  I can access the forum fine outside of Hughes Sat connection.  Wonder why?

http://www.haiku-os.org/forum

Can someone else see if they can connect please.

I get the following error message when I try from multiple systems, Mac, Linux, iOS, etc....  using various browsers.  All the same issue.

Cannot load app

It looks like you are offline! Please check your network connection and try again.

Regards

TJ

TJ, I just tried it and was able to connect just fine on HN.

OK, guess I have to see if @Amanda or @Liz have any ideas.

Reset my modem so not sure what else to do.

Tried Macs (x2), iOS devices (x2), Linux system, and on all various browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari.  All give me the same error.

As a side note... I can go to their main page fine but the forum fails.

https://www.haiku-os.org/  works fine

https://discuss.haiku-os.org/  fails.

http://www.haiku-os.org/forum  fails.

The first and second work just fine for me, and the third opens on the same address as the second.  So, clicking on this...

http://www.haiku-os.org/forum

takes me to this...

https://discuss.haiku-os.org/

Edit:  The second link in the quote fails, I think due to having an extra space at the end, but the second link in my reply is what it's meant to be.  Again, though, both links in my reply open at the "discuss" address.

Also, sorry for all the email notifications.  I tried editing that second link in the quote a few times, but I couldn't get it to work properly, so I gave up.  Smiley Tongue

Re: Website I can no longer access - a user Forum - why?

Good morning macsociety,

Welcome back! Thanks for posting, that sounds odd, so I really appreciate you letting me know what troubleshooting steps you've tried. I can access those URLs from our Gen 5 system here with no issue.

Was Saturday the first time you noticed having difficulty visiting that site?

I've cleared your DNS cache from my end, please let me know if that makes a difference.

If you're still getting that "Cannot load app - It looks like you are offline! Please check your network connection and try again." error, temporarily disable Web Acceleration and let me know if that makes a difference. Enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser then follow the steps here to find where to toggle Web Acceleration.

Looking forward to hearing back.

Thanks,
Liz

Web Acceleration is disabled on my end... Can't access https://discuss.haiku-os.org/

@macsociety  Have you tried their IRC channel to see if they are having issues?

From what I am seeing, the code of the website is actually loaded, but nothing else is happening...  I can see the source, but none of the JS and CSS is being processed for some reason.

Possible they are having issues with the site, also possible that something with in hughesnet is corrupting the site as it loads and it breaks the scripts and CSS...

Hi @Liz, same error message as before.

Also disabled web acceleration but get same error.

I would say this started about 3 weeks ago....  I used to frequent this site and seem to remember seeing the error 2 to maybe 3 weeks ago is my best guess.

Yes I joined their IRC group over this last weekend and asked if any known issues.  Everyone there said no issues... and everyone there said they are accessing it fine...  posting fine... etc...

So to them, all looks fine.
