I have an email account with a company I do remote work for, and I cannot access their mail server via Hughesnet.
I cannot even successfully ping that server via Highesnet.
The problem seems to be specific usign Hughesnet, because I have a cellphone that CAN access the mail server via it's Verizon cellular service, but which exhibits the same problem accessing the remote mail server when I have the cellphone use Wifi and access via my Hughesnet connection.
Again, simply switching to Wifi causes the cellphone to have the same access problem as my desktop PCs.
The site is inmotionhosting.com, and the mail server is mail.inmotionhosting.com
This might be an SSL/IPv6 problem that's been an issue lately. Have you tried disabling IPv6?
Tried that but no difference.
I suspect the mail hosting company is blacklisting/greylisting Hughesnet, since the cellphone has access via Verizon but not through Hughesnet.
Possibly related, but unlikely: I am getting a lot of cases where I am unable to connect to the Hughesnet outbound server before Thunderbird times out. This is an old problem that comes and goes by itself.

Hi gcooper,
Engineering would like to know if this issue happens all the time or at a certain time? They tested the connection between mail.inmotionhosting.com and the gateway serving your area and that appears fine.
