I just got a call from a very lost and confused UPS delivery man who has a package for me. I've not been expecting any kind of delivery via UPS so I can only guess it must be the router WooHoo! He is still some 45 miles away but I gave him very detailed directions on how to get to my house...and just so long as he doesn't turn right instead of left at the 2nd tumbleweed, and goes straight onto the dirt road instead of off in another direction...he should get here by 5pm :P I doubt this poor UPS driver will be putting a big in for the permanent position. Our wonderful UPS driver Chuck, after 15 years of delivering packages out here, and some 30 years of service with UPS, retired about 2 weeks ago. His route has been taken over temporarily by several different drivers, none of who are to thrilled at having to drive out this way. *He could of easily thrown the package alongside the road..no one would of any the wiser, lol (OOOPS!) but he didn't...I've got some left over shortbread and some other baked goodies I made over the weekend...so I'm going to put a plate together as a little 'thank you' just to show my appreciation. *for those who may take that out of context (you know who you are)... there is a huge difference between 'brown nosing' and 'not wanting to burn your bridges* when your services are limited. I choose not to burn my bridges...Re: Post for GabeUalrighty, will do, I'll let you all know when it arrives. I don't actually know if it's been shipped or not..I never verified my physical/shipping address with anyone so hopefully it will get here okay. My Walmart order (via FedEx) has been bouncing back and forth between Bloomington, CA and Las Vegas, NV for the last 8 days now. ROFL!Re: Post for GabeUWell shooot guys, I noticed you all posting this several days ago but didn't realize it was in preparation of the router being shipped to me. Is there anything I need to be doing ahead of the router arriving?Re: How do I set my connection to metered? Windows 10.By switching over to a 'metered' connection, you are simply 'delaying' any available Window Updates from automatically downloading. Once you have changed your connection to 'metered', you can, at any time, follow these steps below to see if any Window Updates are available and from there, you can choose whether or not you want to download them at that time. Open your Start menu and select Settings to launch it. Click or tap the “Update & Security” icon Under the Update Status it will let you know what, if any, Window Updates are available for download and will give you the option to download them at that time. If, at any time, you connect your desktop computer directly back up to your HughesNet modem via Ethernet cable, your computer will recognize this connection as no longer metered and all available Window Updates will begin to download automatically.Re: How do I set my connection to metered? Windows 10.If your using a desktop computer and it is connected directly to your HughesNet modem via an Ethernet cable, you will not be able to change your settings to 'metered'. If your computer (desktop or laptop, or any other device using Windows 10) is connecting to the internet via Wifi, through a router connection, you can follow these steps to set up a 'metered' connection. Open your Start menu and select Settings to launch it. Click or tap the “Network & Internet” icon Select “Wi-Fi,” and then select “Advanced options” at the bottom of the list of nearby Wi-Fi networks. You can then activate the “Set as metered connection” option here.Re: How to turn off automatic updates on Windows 10No worries, ROFL! I just learned it myself about 3 weeks ago.Re: Why is my bill automatically taken out on the day the bill is generated? $5.00 for paper bill. Customer service is impossabile to talk to.Good Morning Don, I'm a customer here on the community like yourself, and quite frankly, out of all the questions/complaints I have seen pop up on this board over the last few weeks, some of which have been quite ridiculous, you question is probably one of the most reasonable ones I've seen and quite honestly,I have to agree with you as far as the way HughesNet has set up their billing and auto charging of services. It's quite odd that they charge your credit/debit card on the same day that your bill is actually generated. Most companies don't do that. Like you, and many people i'm sure, it would be nice to have a few days to review the bill for any possible errors and/or be able to choose our own automated payment schedule. I actually just changed my DirecTV auto bill date via their website just a few days ago. Unlike HughesNet, DirecTV allows you to choose your own auto bill paydate between the day your bill is first generated, right up until the day the bill is due, which is usually about 14 days. They also give the customer a choice whether or not to enroll in auto pay. It's not mandatory like it is with HughesNet. If you choose not to enroll in auto pay, you can pay via their website using a major credit card/debit card or checking account. I think HughesNet should really take some time to look into this and perhaps offer alternative payment methods and/or give the customer a choice in his or her own billing date each month. As far as the 'paper' billing is concerned..I actually wasn't aware that HughesNet offered to mail out a bill in lieu of automatic billing, but I can only guess that the $5 charge is to cover the cost of printing/mailing. I know how ridiculous that may seem these days, but most all companies, including banks etc, are requesting and/or requiring that their customers transition over to 'paperless' billing as it is just more cost efficient.Re: How to turn off automatic updates on Windows 10Good Morning Chewagirl.. Hope you don't mind me adding that this only works if you are using a router. If your computer is directly connected to your HughesNet modem via Ethernet cable, you will be unable to set your connection as 'metered' and all updates will continue to download automatically.
