A way to turn autopay off?

I don't think you can stop autopay, but you can suspend your account temporarily. See https://support.hughesnet.com/en/faq/account_billing/what-seasonal-suspension

I think you will still pay the equipment lease fee, but you should ask when/if you call to suspend the account.
