jprodr19, it is my understanding that all local landline numbers are owned by the Telco providers in the end. That is why you have to request from them to get a number ported to HughesNet. The Telco can refuse port requests if they wish. I kind of doubt HughesNet will go out to all the providers and try to purchase local numbers from them, especially if the customer never requests the number they already have be ported.
I don't think there are large blocks of local landline numbers just lying around for any provider who wants to just snatch them up.
Perhaps one of the mods will provide the official answer.
