Official HughesNet site?

Is the following an official HughesNet site?

https://www.hughesnetinternet.net/

AFAIK, the following is the official HughesNet site, but I often see the one above, and its sub-pages, in search results.

https://www.hughesnet.com/

  • Good morning folks,

I appreciate your concern about the legitimacy of this website, I was too. I did get confirmation that this is indeed one of ours. We're already working with the webmaster to ensure the information on that site is updated and accurate. I suggest sticking to our FAQs on https://myhughesnet.hughesnet.com/.

  • hughesnet.com is under Amazon Web Services, and myhughesnet.hughesnet.com is under Synacor (CenturyLink backbone)

hughesnetinternet.com is under SoftLayer Technologies... who are real sketchy to begin with. I'm thinking either fake, designed to get people's login info - OR - possibly intended as a backup site while CenturyLink was fubar?

Best I can tell it looks exactly the same as myhughesnet.hughesnet.com

Edit: One more clue: hughesnetinternet.com is unsecure. myhughesnet is at least secured by Echostar.

Edit2: WHOIS has hughesnetinternet.com is 'owned' by HNS in Germantown, so... disregard the paranoia. Either a backup or staging site. Doesn't change my opinion of SoftLayer tho.

That's what I was wondering, as it has a lot of useful information.  Then again, scammers will go to great lengths to get peoples' info, so I wanted to make sure.  On a recent post Liz had mentioned that she was going to verify if it was their site, but she didn't reply with that info before it was closed.  She's busy, though, so I understand.

I'll still steer clear of it and not recommend it to anyone.  The two sites I normally do recommend (hughesnet for sales and info and myhughesnet for account access and info) contain everything that's on that site, so I have no need to.

      Thanks for the insight.  :)
