I suppose that's standard procedure when you do major service to the account. Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) Same here EDIT: So far so good. 20Mbps+ on ES17 Beam 3 Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) I was at 97Kbps last night at 9pm, the slowest it's ever been. Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) It's odd, things got better for a while but this week speeds went down across the board. Even in the wee hours of the morning it was below 10Mbps when before I've been getting over 30Mbps consistanly. The sub 500Kbps speeds have been starting earlier and continuing later into the evening as well, now lasting until 12am or later. Could the holiday week be causing this? https://testmy.net/quickstats/TYGRHobbes Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) I'm getting speeds in the 100-200kbps range right at this moment not in FAP. Pages are taking minutes to load, secure pages failing to load, and the speed test taking near 10 minutes to complete. I haven't seen speeds this bad since cyber Monday. https://testmy.net/quickstats/TYGRHobbes Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) I tested today in FAP and got 1.1Mbps which seemed good and was actually faster than the non FAP tests taken previously at the same time period. I just now tested with token bytes and got 1.3Mbps so that was not good :mansad: I reset my modem earlier as well but doesn't seem like that fixed anything with what these tests show. Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) macsocietyYeah those 600k-800kbps speeds for me are not in FAP. I only ran one FAP test Thanksgiving day when my allowance finally poofed around 7:30p. It was around 300kbps. I figured there's no reson to continue testing in FAP if the normal speeds are way slow, that FAP test took forever to run. My general problem times start a little after noon and usually don't end until after midnight. Durning those times I may peak at 2Mbps but on average it's 600k-800kbps. Here's my testing for reference in case you're interested: http://testmy.net/quickstats/TYGRHobbes Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) 150k downloads, yikes that's worse than me. Mine is hovering just around 600-800k. This will be my last post here as I moved mine to a new thread. Yes, let's hope this beam 55 problem can be solved so we can all have a Merry Chrismas and Happy New Year =D. Good luck to all! Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) Deleting posts, really? <sigh> Anyhoo on to the business at hand... I decided to post my speed test result (still at full speed not FAP) as it's pretty obvious it's following a pattern of plummeting from noon to midnight. Totally unacceptable speeds. Either there's a problem or some serious false advertising is going on. Here's the results so far... http://testmy.net/quickstats/TYGRHobbes I'll make my own thread once the week is over which will have lots of data. Thank you. Re: New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses) Sorry I haven't chimed in since my first post here, I'm running a week long testmy.net test before I post it here. Currently while I'm sitting here, I'm running at 660 kbps (yes, that's a k folks!). And I'm running at full speed too (not FAP). I couldn't even do the upload tests as they would hang since I was running so slow. I can't imagine my Gen 4 was slower than this, it was slow but not this slow. Are Gen4 users having these same problems? I'm regretting switching over to Gen5. At least I was able to watch live streams at 144p with no buffering with Gen4. On another note, I may be moving soon so I would definitely get rid of this and get either cable or fiber optic. Is HughesNet going to have the audacity to charge me a early termination fee even though the service has been horrible and not as advertised? Between that and paying more than double over normal service that would pretty much throw me over the top. A class-action <censored> seems in order. I'm not one for jumping the gun so let's see if this can at least get resolved before other steps are taken. Good day.
