Gen5 - Equipment Lease Vs. Buy considerations
Can anyone tell me where I can find more details on the costs & benefits of whether to opt for equipment leasing or equipment purchase? I tried to find information starting at the Get Started page (https://www.hughesnet.com/get-started) and I didn't meet with much success. I'm assuming the plan pricing information provided does not include equipment leasing costs. Or does it? What are your thoughts on the trade-offs of one option over the other? My predisposition is to purchase the equipment up-front as that generally means I'll pay less for the equipment in the long run. Does leasing afford the option of future (no-additional cost) equipment upgrades or any enhanced service for the hardware? At a minimum I'd at least like to know the total set of costs I'll be paying. Thanks.24KViews2likes8CommentsNeed 40 gig plan
13 days to go and already have depleted my data. Ugh. Had to do a clean install of Windows, download the updates, download software...argh! Really need a 40 gig plan. Wouldn't help this month, but for me, 30 is too little and 50 is too much (for the price certainly!) Wonder how things are going to change when the next sat goes up. Here's hoping Starlink and the LEOs come on line in a year...!20KViews0likes13CommentsStreaming question
I am just curious: I am thinking about cutting the cord on Dish Network in April. We upgraded to the 30 gig plan from the 20 gig on or around the 22nd and were now at 66%.. :( But, that was before I found a way to cut the consumption of data down. I have now set Netflix to use Low resolution, and the picture still looks fine, spotify on low data useage while on wifi, anything that I could change the quality on to use less data, thats what I did. So I want to know, since everything is on LOW data useage, will we still be able to watch streaming video when we run out of data or will it be like PLAY~~~~~~~BUFFER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~PLAY~~~~BUFFER? Thanks!18KViews0likes30Commentsno options greater then 50 gig plan????????????/

After the first month of service which seemed great because of the unlimited faster data (which I was completely unaware was happening), our family went through out 20 GB's in two days. I called Hughesnet and no one could tell me how we went through the data so fast and after an hour and 40 minutes on the phone I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was promised a call back from a supervisor and never received one. Now we started a new month and once again we are out of data in two days...and we did virtually nothing involving using data. This is the most ridiculous and deceiving offer I have ever seen, and the service is even worse! WE will be calling and cancelling. If you are considering this service - never do it.17KViews7likes25CommentsGen6 and the future
Wandering about Gen 6 and the future of hughes net in 2020 + since there is so many new competitors comming to market .. i wander havent herd any thing has any one herd on future services from Hughes or what ???????? i wander its been over 2 yrs i been on hughes wander ???????? what the next sat and tech for hughes will look like ??????????????????????15KViews0likes2CommentsVery unhappy customer
I have had this service for about 6months and every month I’m out of data around 6-10 days into the cycle. I was placed on a 30GB plan and all I do is stream and use the internet for my online program. I have never had this issue with other companies. HughesNet k my wants to take my money and has no regard for how I feel about paying $90/mo for service that I only can utilize for at max 10 days out of the month. I leave home at 6:30 am and return after 6:30 pm. I have two smartphones, a smart tv and two roku devices. Every time I call I’m on the phone e at minimum 2 hours with no resolve. HughesNet wants me to lay a cancellation fee when I was misled and placed on a 2 yr contract and a 30 GB plan that doesn’t fit the needs of my household. This is crap! I am super upset and vow to discredit this company if it’s the last thing I do. This is ridiculous to take my money every month, faithfully, and then not have a little common sense to at-least empathize with my dilemma. I have had my service cancelled and then been charged a cancellation fee of $400 and I’ve been hung up on. These customer service ppl are rude and just read their script. The language barrier is real and makes customers upset. I hate this service and plans. I won’t out but do not want to pay a cancellation fee. I don’t feel as if that’s fair to me. I need answers. I need help. Not too mention I have been told to turn the resolution down on my devices and to contact the manufacturer of my tv as if this is their fault. Now the system won’t let me post this....15KViews2likes8Comments100gig, but 30gig for streaming
Since streaming services eat up so much internet traffic, why not a plan that ups the amount of data we have so we can download updates and other apps that are usually one-time downloads, but limit the amount of data from streaming sites? So you get 100 gigs. But if you download more than..say...30 gigs from Netflix, any more data from Netflix gets throttled. More data available, but stops that bandwidth hogs.14KViews1like5Comments
