I would look at the signal strength both when it's working and when it's down. I'd also run a connectivity test when it's working to see if I was getting a lot of lost packets. No matter what you find, it's probably going to take a tech to pinpoint the problem. If you're not getting good service from your tech company, find a better one. I did years ago. There are plenty of companys out there that are certified to work on Hughes equipment.

Very strange! Some things I would try: Make absolutely sure the modem WIFI is turned off. Check with a system monitor to see if you have a process that's a CPU hog. Switch to other LAN ports. Try a different computer.

The one time I tried Chrome it seemed slow and clunky compared to Firefox. I also didn't like that it used a web page for functions that were built in to Firefox's menuing system. If they're now blocking ad blockers, I would definitely drop them. BTW I switched to AdGuard, so far it seems to be working better than Adblock.

Now when I have a problem I don't even contact the original provider, I just call them.

I can't get to them either. Trying Marks DNS procedure didn't make any difference for me. I've seen this happen before, where you can't reach certain sites from Hughes. I've always assumed it was a problem upstream from the gateway. . In my case, it's always fixed itself after a few days.

Your biggest problem may be the two streaming TVs which could use between 1 to 3.2 gig an hour. At that rate the largest data plan available wouldn't be enough. It would be better just to get a TV satellite dish. Also some smart phones update all of their apps periodically which could use gigs of data. There are three posts pinned to the top of this board about data usage. Managing your data is Just something you have to put up with on a satellite connection. If you can get a cable ISP, that would be the way to go.

Looks like I'm going to make it this cycle. The only thing I found wrong was that Noscript seemed to quit working after the last time I updated Firefox. Now instead of hitting one button to block all Java scripts on a site, it seems you now have to go to each sub site and set it to Untrusted. I've seen this happen with programs several times before, you have a program that works perfectly, and the programmers keep adding so called improvements until it no longer works properly.

That's the reason I try not to have anything to do with any social media platform, IMO they censor users who post anything that doesn't agree with their version of political correctness. Three new ad-block whiners: Washington Times, The Daily Caller, and American Greatness. I sent this message to all three of them. To all ad-block whiners: I am on a data limited satellite connection. IOW I pay for every byte that passes over my connection, and I don't choose to PAY to download your ads, which I would just ignore anyway. It's a struggle every billing cycle to stay under the data limit, so I installed an ad blocker to try to save on data usage. Now your site refuses to run unless I turn off my ad-blocker. I look on this practice as little more than extortion. On the rare occasions that I watch TV I use my remote to either switch to a commercial free channel or mute the TV whenever a commercial comes on. I'll bet you advertising weenies would love to find a way to block this practice and force us all to watch Big-Brother all of the time. I guess the advertisers are determined to ruin the internet they way they did Christmas, commercial TV, and telephones. Land line telephones are now practically useless because of telemarketers and robo-callers. I guess cell phones and the internet will be next. Here we go again, I thought my data usage problems were over a year ago, but now I ran out of data last month, and it looks like I'm on schedule to run out this month also. I'm not doing anything different. I go to the same web sites everyday and actually do most of my browsing during the bonus period. I have seen one web site "go rogue" and start using large amounts of data just to load their home page. That's the first thing I'm going to check. I hope I don't have to crank up my spread sheet procedure where I compare the traffic on my ethernet port with what Hughes reports on the modem. I hate to do this because it's a real pain. The last time, I found that Hughes seemed to be over charging between .3 and .5 gigs a cycle for data. This would have to more than triple to account for the losses I'm seeing. BTW my wifi is disabled. I'm also wondering if my Java script blocker is malfunctioning. I've been playing around with "Page Load Time" and often see script run time on sites where Java script is supposed to be disabled. Is this normal? BTW I'm running Linux mint 17.3, Firefox 67.0, with Adblock Plus, NoScript, Popup Blocker Ultimate, and Load Time add ons.

It's under Edit, Preferences, Privacy and Security, History. Use Custom settings, Settings, Cache.

Silviron "For the last couple of years I've had a signal strength of 89 with an occasional high of 90 and sometimes 86 0r 87.... In the last month my signal strength has slowly fallen to as low as 71 (it is 73 right now, with clear skies and calm) I've tweaked my dish aiming several times, and replaced my coax with new quad shielded, 3 ghz RG-6 cables and connectors., cleaned all my connections etc.. My system is a self installed HN7000s with a 2 watt transmitter, and has been working great until recently." Wow a hn7000s! That's an oldie, although I see Amazon still sells new ones for $29.95. I'm running a ht2000 on Gen5 and my signal strength is 56 this morning, it's usually around 70, but I've seen it down to 40 with no problems. I would guess that signal strength may not be your problem.

I do not like the way the ground wire just seems to be wrapped around a pipe strap. Looks to me like a loose connection just waiting to happen. Since that connection is only inches away from an electricial box I would run the ground wire up into the box and attach it to a terminal on the ground bus.
