Well, the meter is not immediate, it does lag a bit behind usage. My honest opinion is it was usage that wasn't registered before you unplugged then showed up when you plugged back in. You've already burnt through 50 GB of Anytime bytes, obviously a very heavy user. What are you doing, lots of HD video streaming? Many satellite customers wish they had 50 GB of Anytime data and now you're asking about data used beyond that. What a piece of work. Pronto!

They do work pretty hard to keep customers if the customer is willing to let them help. This site is the best place for that.

I have to agree, browsing history is being collected no matter which one you are using. I switched to Chrome several years back when FF began crashing my computer for some reason. Still use it and Opera sometimes though when needed.

You can cancel within the first 30 days by calling in but is there something you need help with? Many of us here can give you pointers on how to manage your monthly data and get the most from it. I have had very few problems in 11 years with them, the ones I did have were fixed. Never had a billing issue either. Do you have better internet options available?

Just because it says HughesNet does not mean it is HughesNet. People need to realize there are thousands of scams on the internet where fraudulent people pose as well known companies just to get money and personal information. Rule of thumb, do not click on any link when a company sends an email. Instead go to the page of the company and log in like you normally would. DO NOT click on links in email to log into anything.

Roseanne, Picking up malware or a virus online is not HughesNet responsibility. It is up to the customer to keep their system clean. Many times the originator of such things are overseas and it is very hard to find them let alone take any action against them. Would you be willing to have your bill increased so they can hire a team to investigate such things?

I have a Brother printer and it is pretty easy to connect by wireless if you have a wireless router. The printer should have a menu that will show the address of the printer. Then you can set it up manually in your OS with that address. By cable is a bit harder on a mult-function printer. The connection on mine is under the scanner, have to lift it up to get to the connector.

If you have a ground based provider you never should have signed up for satellite. Bill, I believe in being honest and stating the fact that high speed ground based unlimited internet is better than capped satellite internet. Lol, those things put out some serious heat! We used them in the military on super thick heat shrink insulation. Had to be careful not to melt the wire in the process.

Never use oil based products like cooking sprays as they can make the dish sticky and things worse. Car window de-icer in a powerful garden sprayer or Super Soaker water gun can work also.

Joe, I am curious if you have other options for internet besides satellite? It is for those of us without other service available other than dial-up and very high cost cell data plans. I ask because gaming is not a make or break issue for most of us because we simply want internet regardless of how well some games play.
