I get a big laugh at the Gen5 commercial every time it plays. Aww, there's truth in advertising! Re: Low and unreliable speeds at any time of day/night on newly installed Gen5 For months I have been experiencing the same issues you have mentioned. When I first switched from Gen4 to Gen5 the speed was greatly improved but now it has slowed to a crawl. I was also told to use myinternet.net for the speed test and of course it stated 33.6 Mbps but when I used the Hughesnet speed test I was getting .76 Mbps DOWNLOAD which was less than the 2.36 Mbps UPLOAD speed. I requested a tech to check my home installation and was told it would cost me. To say I'm completely frustrated is putting it mildly. What am I paying for? I have tweaked both of my pc's the best way I could and still no results (driver updates, etc). I even went to PCmatic to see if I could improve the performance to no avail. Both pc's are not ancient to say the least. I even bought my wife a new Dell and still the performance curse still follow us. Today my case was finally sent to the next level of support (up to 5 days to respond). I can hardly wait! Re: Customer with extremely poor service Nope Excede.https://www.exede.com/ ViaSat2 From Wikipedia:ViaSat-2is a commercialcommunications satellitelaunched June 1, 2017. I love the response I got from their tech staff indicating that they didn't promise 25Mbps (just like the commercial), only that they meant "UP TO". A game of semantics is what they play so well. If you use the term "UP TO" then the logical extension to the term would be, "any value from ZERO to 25 Mbps". I was getting really close to zero in my speed tests which would confirm their actual promise. A startup is starting a new satellite in Jan. 2018 which I am close to seriously consider as an alternative to Hughesnet if this community stream is their new customer service. Re: Customer with extremely poor service Why not? When a consumer is not getting the service promised and notifying customer support does not alleviate the situation then the only recourse is to complain. Maybe by complaining Hughesnet would finally respond to the customer's complaints. The commercial on TV is fine and dandy but when it's not the truth, then the company should be called out on it. Where is my promised 25Mbps (60% of that speed)? I've been dealing with .60Mbps to 2 Mbps for the past 3 to 4 weeks on 2 computers and I'm told by tech support, "it's the weather". The weather has not been bad the whole 4 weeks. When I was a Gen4 customer a tech once came out to check on my service (the alignment of the dish) because the service detected a problem. Now with the Gen5 issues, I have asked for a tech to check out our setup and I was told it would cost me$125. Why am I paying $116 a month for such service? I'm better off going back to either Gen4 or the crappy Frontier DSL service. "I hate snow on dishes" I have struggled with different products to get snow off the Satellite dishes with no success. Sprays, heating elements when near an electrical source, cooking sprays, etc etc. For Christmas I received a snow visor specifically for sat dishes. Haven't tried it yet with snow but it has to be better than what I've been using. For you fellow sufferers who have to walk to the dish (or climb ladders) every hour to clean off the dish to see Judge Judy here is the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Satellite-Dish-Snow-Visor-TM-for-Oval-Antennas-/270695744151?hash=item3f06b9...
