Yes. I logged on, and tried different browsers/PCs as well. The Settings button was missing And the android app frooze every time I tried to turn off Video saver. Today, its all back and working. I know this sounds a bit like a conspiracy theory, but it seems like in times of high bandwidth usage locally, the option to use full bandwidth is removed on purpose? That, and the fact that video saver ALWAYS defaults back enabled after 24 hours or so. Its either that, or this isnt a robust platform/function, as it does not work correctly at least several times per month. And I dont see how its on my end, as I try it with multiple browsers, PC's, and Android apps. Now it magically works again. Just some thoughts.... -BT

The option to turn on/off, and suspent, the video saver is missing again. Both on any PC I use when I log onto the website. Also, it is not working on My android app. Things I did to trouble shoot: Use a different browser on PC (Edge, Firefox, Chrome) Uninstall the android app, and re-install Complete reboot of the modem. OK, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I swear mid-day the Video Saver option was non-existent while logged into the website, on my Android App, and on the Windows App. In fact, it timed out on the my Android phone and said "video settings not available at this time" Now at 8pm EST, all those locations have the Video Saver option back. Wondering if this is a work-day COVID action, to limit it during the day. Anyway, I don't want to detract from others on this forum who are having more serious issues. I just thought it would be worth mentioning and understanding why. I am working from home again Friday. If the option disappears again, I will certainly take some screenshots. Thanks! -Brian

Any update on this? I notice that I the status and option of data saver no longer appears on the web page, Windows App, or Android App. Should we assume that to address bandwidth issues a permanent reduction in video quality has been implemented? Apologies if this is already in another thread. I read about prioritization efforts, but I didn't realize this was part of that effort?

Also, I would like to add a bit more info. I have now tried all three ways of controlling this. Logging onto the website, Android APP, and now the widows program. All three of these allow me to toggle on/off. But at some point, it gets turned back on automatically. -BT

Hello, For several days now, I have been trying to toggle DATA SAVER off. I log onto the website, and click the toggle. I have also done this on the HN app on my phone. Both ways allow be to toggle it off. but with 12hours / next day, it is back on. Can I turn it off permanently? And no I am not using the 4hr snooze feature. I click the main on/off button. Thanks! I think we can close the thread as the main issue of no connection was solved. This time of the evening is the peak time. And my speeds are running around 1 to 6 mbps. Earlier in the afternnon they were closer to 20. So this is pretty typical in my expereince. I will say I am not getting the very long lag times which cause web pages to time out anymore. So I consider this connection usable for my purposes, backup to a Cell Hot spot. Thanks, B

Technician arrived today. She said the likely problem was that the orginal installation technician (2+ years ago) used an unapproved connector which likely caused me poor service the entire time. She also said that I should be on Ecostar 19, and not 17. So she repointed the dish. So far, speeds and response seem good. Further testing will be needed, as it is not peak time here yet.

Update, Called for service. Was elevated to Tech Level 3 service. Concluded it was a hardware issue not solvable remotely. Need to have a technican come out. Even though I have had the service for 2+ years and no longer bound by contract, they said they need to hire a technician and it would cost me $120. I said no thanks, let's cancel. Then she said hughes would pay half. I still said no, so they transfered me to the "cancelation" person. That person said they would be willing to have the technician come out for free. So I agreed. We shall see. Might be time to move on. I have kept this service as backup to my DSL and Verizon Wireless. The Satellite has never been very reliable. Intermittment slow speeds and/or lag so bad that it is unusable (not the expected lag due to the technology, lag caused by overcrowding I am assuming) It's really a shame. I wanted to love this technology. I was an early adopter of the previous generations. And since I do not game, I never had a problem accepting the normal delay lag. I can't accept something this expensive with a 50/50 success rate when I need it. Sure, 6am in the morning when I am getting ready for work, it works great. Any other time, mostly unusable.

We seem to be having a major issue with this connection. Getting a 22.3.2 error code, cannot register. This came on suddenly today when trying to get online. Unplugged / power cycled modem several time. Is there a known issue? Thanks, Brian

Hello, just got back home from work. Tested everything out and the problem still remains.... No broadcasted WiFi signal to connect to, or ethernet network either. All the front panel lights are on, except for the LAN. Thanks, Brian

I also directly connected my laptop via ethernet cable. Nothing. Maybe a power surge or somehting took it out. What is the quickest way to get a replacement? I was moved to Echostar-17 a couple months ago due to congestion / speed issues on my satellite. The speed was great since then, until a week or so ago. Now I am back to 5-6 mps being typical, and much lower at peak times. I am assuming now this satellite is getting crowded? Nothing has changed since I ran all the Diagnostics last time.

Did get a service tech visit this weekend. Some adjustments were made and my speeds are back to being in 20mps range almost always. Very happy so far. Can stream video again pretty consistently. -BT

I received a call last week while i was at work from one of the higher level tech people. I was caught off gaurd because its been several weeks and I havn't checked this board recently (Liz gave me a heads up that they were looking at my case, but I didnt see that). I wasn't able to test it out becuase I was at work. But he said he was dealing with 1000's (I think that is what he said) of tickets and that was what was taking some time. Anyway, he said he made some tweaks, and gave me a direct number for the higher support if I still have issues. The speed issues have gotten better. I am almost always seeing 6-12mps during peak hours. No where near the 25mps several months ago. But at least I am not at <1mps. Streaming video is still patchy, but I can do most tasks that I need. Time will tell, I am cautiously optimistic.

Your points are well taken and I am sure legally the Internet supplier is covered. My disagreement comes with the usability factor. I disagree that the speeds I get during peaks times below 500kps are usable. Even web browsing is not always possible at these speeds because it is not a sustained 500kps, i've seen as low as <100kps (and that is considering only web browsing. Now days, browsing the web is only a fraction of what I need Internet access to accomplish) So my only remaining point is, small print or not, people should know that their Internet will frequently be unusable at peak times during the day. But I would be satisfied if the wording as you suggest was.. Internet speeds will likely slow down during peaks time, thus rendering the internet only usable for limited web browsing and email. (limited because even web pages with large pictures take minutes to load) On a side note, I want to make it clear that I have no issue with any of the technical support staff or moderators here....They have genuinely been trying help all. It's the technology and the sales/advertising that I think should be more upfront, besides the fine print.

Well I was a satisfied customer for the first couple of months. But as the speed test below shows, during peak times the Internet is barely usable. Unfortunately, I only have myself to blame. I had satellite Internet years ago, and had the same issues with traffic. I just hoped that technology had made it better. Instead of just complaining, I offer my help in that I came up with a disclaimer that should be included and highlighted for each customer. It is entirely possible this verbiage or near so is already in the agreement we all sign. If that be the case, here it is again to help others with trouble. No doubt this forum has helped folks with actual equipment issues and setup issues. But I suspect a majority are like me, and are suffering from simple traffic issues, that I didn't know would be so bad as to render the Internet unusable (let alone any kind of streaming). https://testmy.net/db/XnhQGNxEr The speed of your Internet downloads is directly related to the amount of traffic from other users. Your download speed can vary from 300kps to 40mps, depending on traffic. Please note, this is unavoidable and is a byproduct of this technology and associated limitations. No actual download speed is guaranteed at any time. At the lower speeds, it is likely/probably that the speed will be too slow to be usable. The slower speeds will typically be during peak hours when traffic is high (4pm to 11pm) Faster speeds will typically be during off hours, during which you can use your bonus 50 GB of data.

Here are three links of recent results when I was experiencing a slowdown. I actually have had much worse, but this should show what I am seeing. Also below are some more info... This was done directly connected to the router/modem. No WiFi Signal strength and all other local diagnostics show no issues. Actually, I do need to correct the above statement. I sporatically do get the below error message. It does not alway coincide with slow speeds, but the error code does randomly. While on live Tech support, they are aware of this code, and have showed me how to "clear MBX" on my router control panel screen. This action does not permanently clear up that error code. 30.3.4 -- Web response time is longer than expected no one else at my home is on this network. So no one else is using this Internet source. I have run this speed test at other "non-peak" times, such as early morning and middle/night. The speed is incredibly fast and consistent at 25 to 40 MPS. I am not an expert, but having dealt with Satellite Internet in the past, this really seems like a traffic issue. I am on Day 5 of a 3-5 day call back as I was escalated to engineers last week. Returning customer. Was enticed by the promise of 25 mps speed. My signal is strong, and I indeed recieved 25+ for the first couple months. Now the speed is very erratic, and 15 is mostly the max, and often I get less than 5. Sometime even less than 1. Been on chat support, been elevated to the engineers. Should get a call in 2-3 days they say. WiFi and computer issues ruled out. Is there hope? Or is this the same issue I had 7-8 years ago? Satellite congested, slow downs during peak times to be expected? I woul like to add that at non peak times (6am, 2am, etc), the speed shoots up very high. Sometimes even upwards of 40. I beleive this supports my theory of congestion rather than weather, equipment, etc..
