Thanks!SolvedA usage meter for iOS?I noticed a Windows version of a download meter. It would be nice to see a meter for iOS.Re: Directvkitnbob yep, the higher the better!Re: New customer looking for recommendations, suggestions, and tipsI purchased a smart TV, then signed up for Hughesnet with the intentions of cutting the cord. Soon discovered that streaming TV uses a tremendous amount of data. Along with the cost of Hughesnet, you need to purchase some sort of service (Hulu, Sling, Amazon Prime) to watch tv. Hulu, for example, charges $40/month for their package with the live tv option. I also put up an amplified OTA to get a few local stations. Downloading programming during the bonus time for viewing offline is a smart option, also eliminates buffering. I did end up subscribing to Dish Network in the end, and use my Hughesnet primarily for internet. I’m still learning how to optimize my data use and so far this month I’m pleased with the results. As far as the actual speeds, if you don’t connect anything else to the WiFi while streaming, the buffering is minimal and speed has been ok for regular computer use and I can FaceTime with my grandchildren well. Bottom line, Hughesnet is not a good option for cord cutting, IMHO, but my experience has not been as bad as many I’ve read about in the Community. It is better than the only other options I have, DSL or Verizon Jet Pack.Re: DirectvI purchased anantenna from eBay for $28.99. Amplified and rotor on it, came with 32’ of coax. It is rated 150 mile range. I live in E TX, about 100 miles SE of Dallas and 60 Miles SW of Tyler. I was able to receive about 11 stations, mostly in Tyler, but a few in Dallas as well as Bryan/College station. I had it mounted on 10’ pole. Re: Down loading in bonus timeJeff_T thanks! About how much data does one movie download use?Downloading vs Streaming data useI read a post about using the Play On software. My question: if I were to use Play On to download during my Bonus Data, will simply downloading to watch later offline use less data than streaming to watch? My intentions would be to connect my laptop to my tv. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!SolvedRe: Down loading in bonus timeWhen you say “local WiFi”, do you mean the WiFi on the Hughesnet router, or do you need a separate router? If I download to my laptop, would using an external hard drive for additional storage space be helpful?
