And my router has 3 external antennae which are definitely better than a single internal antenna that I assume the 2000 has. Would bet the transmit power is quite a bit higher on my personal router also. Anyone have the actual specs on the wireless side of the HT2000W like transmit power, receive sensitivity, signal db diagram, etc.?

If not using WiFi then your computer must be connected directly to the HughesNet modem/gateway by cable. A bit confused how you are connected.

Hello OrangeGal, if you click on the network tray icon then a choice of networks available to you should appear. You can then choose your other provider or HughesNet by clicking on them. Like this on my computer:

I find this a bit misleading and way too general. Third party VoIP doesn't work well over satellite more often than it does. https://www.hughesnet.com/frequently-asked-questions

Sorry no help but just an observation. I thought the new combined modem was supposed to fix all these kinds of issues people had with wireless. Guess not. I personally love having the use of both bands on my ASUS router and never a problem accessing both. Really beginning to look like a case of "lowest bidder" syndrome. All the problems here with the wireless side of the modem/gateway, especially the 5 GHz side, is not good. And this site is usually representative of only a small fraction of those having problems. Sure hope they come out with a firmware or hardware change soon. Although the latter fix would be quite expensive for them.

Doesn't seem like many got Ultra back when it was offered and for the cost I see no reason to upgrade now. I can live with the periodic slowdowns at night and other random times. Can understand others moving to Gen5 who've had big problems. Maybe some beams on J1 are not functioning so well.

Yea, mine usually defaults to 480 and lower. I freak when even 480, as 360 looks fine to me. And my stream is generally steady although the server can also send a video stream in chunks and it will be up and down. Like I said, even when my speed is sub 1 Mbps I still can stream Netflix. Maybe does have to do with beam loading but does seem strange. Maybe I'm special. And I have had some very low nighttime speeds also.

I do have Netflix set to lowest definition.

Hello bos2420, the honest answer is you are on a legacy satellite that may not be up to optimum speed. That said, you could have other hardware issues on your end. Plugging a computer directly into the modem will help eliminate the router being the problem. Honest opinion, time to upgrade again. Upgraded to 9000 a year ago? That was not much of an upgrade. Hopefully the new satellite (Gen5) means you have a better option. Think of it like switching from dial-up, to dsl, to cable, and then to fiber. Is the same progression on satellite. From 4000, to 7000, to 9000, to 1100, to 2000.
